Hundreds of thousands of servicemen were exposed to asbestos over decades, especially during the period from 1940 to 1980. Asbestos was used in construction of naval vessels as well as shore facilities. All branches of the military used asbestos, which was also widely used in civilian applications. Asbestos can cause mesothelioma. Because this cancer has a particularly long latency period, many servicemen who were exposed years ago are now developing this disease.

We fight for veterans harmed by asbestos: Veterans with mesothelioma or asbestos-related lung cancer should know they have options: the opportunity to bring a suit against manufacturers and sellers of the asbestos that caused their illness. If you were harmed by asbestos exposure, for example, in ships or military housing, contact Weitz & Luxenberg to get a free case review.
Important Information for Veterans: Asbestos products were often used on military ships and within military housing, and Veterans may have been exposed. Previous exposure to asbestos is the only known cause of mesothelioma, a fatal cancer that has no cure and affects countless Veterans and loved ones. I don't blame them for banning them, they are a disgrace to the uniform and all ought to be deported or put in prison. If you want peace go make your own country and see how long before you HAVE to go to WAR to protect it. I bet not long....either that become a slave.
By Mick on 2009-11-06 22:35:47 Don't worry ranger Rick has never worn anybody's uniform unless it was around Gaza taking target practice on Palestinian children looking for sea gulls and wild onions to survive on.
When you have heard one Sayanim shill you have heard them all. There is no limit to the amount of American blood they would love to see spilled in their behalf.

Dear Dennis RIck
Is America a safer place when it allows only your opnion to be the one allowed free speach?
By SMajGrotto on 2009-11-06 17:01:41 Terry is right on! I might not agree with what they are doing but they have that right to express themselves.

The divisive turmoil caused by the VN War continues its legacy. Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Assembly get pitched when decisions like this are made. What's next ? Banning Freedom Riders on motorcycles from escorting military funerals to keep anti-war protesters a safe distance away from the ceremonies because they make too much noise ?
Just a bit of info everyone. The Veterans Day parade is put on by a PRIVATE organization. I private group can allow whom ever they like in their events, and can not allow whomever they do not want. This has nothing to do with free speech, as it is not a government ageny. I realize that this information was not presented in the article, but what do you expect from an individual who leans so far left. every thing Mr. Leon does is politically motivated, and alot of folks on here just drink his Koolaid. Look for facts before jumping to conclusions.
That's what you said about Veterans for Peace: “a politically motivated group.”
Dont take the banner of Veterans Day Parade if you are a private club, fella. And quit kissing necon ass so much-- embarassing.
By Josh on 2009-11-17 12:52:01 Whiny Lib wanna-be,
The reason the Veterans Day Parade organization was formed, was because the City ceased sponsoring a veteran's day parade. they felt that it was a needed event in the community. They stepped up and did something worthwhile to keep veterans in the public eye. I realize it is difficult for you to comprehend an issue like this without blaming conservatives or President Bush, but they are doing a public service as volunteers. Why would they want to invite a group that makes a political demonstration of everything they attend. If they want to march, have them apply for a permit and organize their own event. If they can't put something together they can join you and just complain and blame someone else.
PS, Just asking are you a vet yourself?
