VA disability Decision

Ok can someone give me some insight here,
On the 5th of March I rec'd a letter that stated a decision had been made in my case, I just had to sign the signature letter (which was the 3rd one)
so I signed mailed back waited a week and called and asked about my decision, the guy said it had been reached but he couldn't tell me on the phone. So last week I got a letter from the Health Administration and it says I am priority 1 so I thought good great.... I call today to see if I can get an update because my VA indebtness letter for the VA funding fee was denied. The guy says no decision has been made on my case, it's still in front of the review board. What the heck was the letter for?

Disability

This is how it works with the V.A. I used to work for them as a service officer.
To answer your question. The people that you talk with when you call the 800 number are not kept completly up to date. The only thing they can see is what the computer screen in front of them say's. It only get's updated once there totally done with your file and it get's put into the system. If you were told that your priority group 1 than it's likely you are. Once a decision is made it has to go thru all the channels to get signed and proceed for payment and all of that stuff. Once that's all done you will usually have your paperrs in the mail telling what is going on before it will be updated in the system. I would give it until after the holiday's, because if they did grant you something this time of year it will more than likely be when everyone get's back from vacation that have to sign off on it. If you have anymore questions just ask.

Great Post -- Thank You

I sure hope you'll be showing up around here a lot, specialopsvet30, to help our members. Good to have somebody around here who has actually worked there.

Thank you.

va disabilty

how long after c&p before you get a rating? i recieved a letter saying they were still processing my claim what does that mean ?

disability claim

i just got an approval on my claim. it dates back to june 1980. it took over 28 years for me to get va to answer one question, which was the deciding factor in my claim. there is no doubt in my mind the va adjudicator's and administrative law judges, can LEGALLY award or deny ANY claim they receive. it will continue to be that way until the adjudicator's and administrative law judges are held accountable. right now they do just about what they want to. the only thing a veteran can do is follow the appeals process. save yourself a lot of time and trouble, hire a lawyer. don't be mislead by people that tel you to get dav, or american legion to help you. i have had both. they are good for your initial claim, that is american legion is. they say they are free, but i doubt if dav has ever represented anyone who did not pay their membership fees. none of them are lawyers. think about it, can you imagine how many powerful lawyers va has? lawyers write the laws and especially va law is understood by lawyers only. take a look at title 38 us code of federal regulations, and others. HIRE A LAWYER!

Can you recommend any attorneys. I just went round and round with the VA regarding my claim which was finished today. One rep said I got a whopping 10%, 1 said that no amount should have been said over the phone, and then the 3rd said that it might not be the correct amount and wait for the letter. Any help is greatly appreciated.
