VA Hospital Issues - Complaints, Issues, and Concerns about the Veterans Administration Hospitals.
Slanderous Blogs
I am tired of reading the hateful, slanderous blogs that have shown up on this forum lately. This forum is intended for veterans and their family members to connect and discuss issues that affect them. It is not for the ranting of a bitter ex-wife!
No better place for these concerns to belong! Concerned
If you think I'm doing this for me or because I'm bitter you'll have to think more on the subject.
I'm an Ex-V.A. Employee, never in administration, I actually touched the Veteran patients, daily. I have seen first hand how hard those wonderful and dedicated employees work! They do a lot with very little. One of the finest groups I've ever had the pleasure to work with was at a V.A. Hospital. I loved working with the Veterans everyday that I was there. My Father, all my Uncles and my spouse at the time were Veterans. I was born on a Military base in Oklahoma. I still have many friends who work in V.A. Hospitals.
I am simply doing this for all of them. They simply can't voice their disgust without probable retaliation. As I'm experiencing now.
I'm doing what V.A. Employees can't do. I'm complaining about very bad behavour in V.A. Hospitals that should be dealt with permanently in a professional and ethical administrative course. Certain actions should not be tolerated within the V.A. hospital community. Patient care and attitudes toward the patients within a V.A. hospital are directly related to employee satisfaction and trust in their Superiors. How happy at work would any of you be if a new employee was put on a Prestigeous "Alternative Dispute Resolution" committee as a coordinator within 6 months of arrival from out of state?
Now please put yourself in these V.A. Employees position. Picture yourself having lived in this town your entire life, you have worked in that V.A. Hospital for years, you have conducted yourself Professionally, Ethically and Morally. You have never had an "Adulterous Affair" with fellow employees. You took classes and you learned what you needed to know very well. You did everything the V.A. told you to do so you could advance upwards.
Now you find out that this new employee had an affair, some of it Taxpayer supported(I personally witnessed this), with the Director at their last V.A. facility. Oh by the way, Directors are not allowed to date their Subordinates unless they were already married to them prior to moving to a new facility. This affair resulted in the end of the Director's 14 year marriage which the Director initiated. I'm the Directors ex-spouse and would have nothing to do with him months later in July 2007 when he was calling me begging to take me to Ireland(I have a lot of close Family there), the lakes in Canada or anywhere else I wished, etc. This is embarrasing and I wish I could walk away from the entire mess but it would still leave the V.A. Employees and Patients in an administrative cesspool. I hope you get the picture. I am not a bitter ex-spouse and this is not revenge. I am lucky and life is good and my lethal hypertension is a thing of the past since my divorce. I am, however, angry that these employees are still Federally employed. Why? Again, you can't legislate Morality and I still wouldn't want to, it's not my place but you can punish and eradicate definable and law breaking behavour. I feel it's disgusting and I very truly hurt for the V.A. Hospital Employees who have to witness this workplace abhorrance. It isn't right and it isn't fair, I'm a little old fashion in this regard, my apologies.
Do you know why Directors aren't allowed to date Subordinates under their power? Any Human Resources employee could give you a thousand reasons why. You could fill Libraries. I gave you a good example, above.
I feel very badly for the V.A. Employees who do everything they can and still have to put up with terrible administrations who make very bad decisions.
Then V.A. Patients, Soldiers, Employees(most are Veterans) and their families all suffer. This bad behavour is only condoned and supported in a few V.A. Hospitals. There are V.A. Hospitals where this conduct would NEVER be allowed and God Bless them.
Im' still Concerned...any V.A. Patient and their families should also be. I mostly find it difficult to understand that a WAR was and is still going on while these Shinanagins have been taking place in V.A. hospitals. A Concerned, taxpaying and power voting citizen.
You say you’re not bitter, but you are still ranting on the internet about a failed marriage. If life is so good and you are so lucky, then why don’t you have anything better to do than write blogs? My spouse is a veteran and the issues that you write about, don’t affect him or his care at the V.A. at all.
Slanderous lies are lies that are spoken that are not true. Libel are lies that are written that are not true. Both would contain lies that cannot be proved in a Federal or State court.
I stand by my assertions fully. I'm sorry you have been able to see a side of one of these people that doesn't illustrate her entirely. If you don't think this doesn't affect most Veterans at the V.A. hospitals in question, pleaes think again. Originally it was 2 Physicians who warned me about my ex-spouses behavour. Since I was a V.A. Employee they were concerned about possible life threatening diseases I might incur. I am glad it doesn't affect you or your family directly. Have you spoken with all of the V.A. Employees and Patients at the facilities I have spoken about? It affects them daily. Your friend the "Educator" was calling my husband(her Acting Director-which is not allowed)on a V.A. Blackberry phone in multitudes, at all hours, while I would be sitting next to him. I first learned her name at a Sam's Club when my 10 year old card wouldn't work because her name was now on it. Have you spoken with any other V.A. Employee in Grand Junction who might have wanted to be on the "Alternative Dispute Resolution" team? This is wrong on so many levels. I go by by assertion that all people have good in them but not all people lead good lives. Their actions and behavour were Rule Breaking on many levels. You do not have to work under these particular people perhaps you should feel fortunate. This is not a dual and it's not about me or you, it is simply about how the V.A. hospitals need to improve which would result in a higher standard of patient care.
Paranoid
Is the Poster "concerned" a bit paranoid? Reading this ranting you are left to wonder why she can't move on, she portrays herself as pursuing right, but to quote Jesus " turn the other cheek".
Her grip on reality seems weak and slipping with each blog entry. Her Sam's card issue shows she's gone man, get the space shuttle, this ones in orbit.
Concerned
The issues of concern within these V.A. Hospital facilities still stand. Most of these Employees are Veterans, these issues concern them directly and influence patient care outcomes. I would like to hear from any V.A. Hospital Employee in either of thses facilities who also wanted to be on the "Alternative Dispute Resolution" committe as a coordinator but were not chosen. Or, were these ADR coordinators just picked...? Although I suspect we will hear only silence, it would be refreshing to hear from an actual V.A. Employee who tried.
