On tenth day of Ashura Muslims and in particular Shias commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the Prophet Mohammed’s grandson about whom he said “Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein”.
I think if the likes of Mohamed Hassanaein Haikal had the courage to speak up then as they speak now, perhaps there will be no need for an Arab Spring or a New Skyes Picot.
I thought the original title “ The Failing Arabs” would be too offensive to a very proud people and nation.
How long does it take to be discouraged by the seemingly impossible? One year? Five? Ten (Viet Nam)…Iraq…Afghanistan)? Try 60 (Palestine)!

As many of us observe the great Arab and Islamic awakening of 2011 in stunned amazement, as it rapidly spreads across the region, this observer agrees with those who declare, “ well it’s about time—Godspeed to the rebels and goodbye to the despots.”
