He’s back again and No Holocaust Denier

He’s Back Again: A new Hitler Satire Tops Germany’s Best-Seller List

Have you ever wondered what would happen if Adolf Hitler woke up and found himself in modern-day, vibrant, multicultural, metropolitan Berlin?

Well, this is the precise theme of a new bestseller by German journalist Timur Vermes. It’s called Er Ist Wieder Da (He’s Back Again).

The Germans love the book but the Brits and the Jews are a bit confused. After all, no one ever expects the Germans to crack jokes and certainly not about  the war, the Holocaust or Hitler.  And, as you may expect, the Guardian of Judea is not one bit impressed: “the opening chapters of He’s Back Again in particular can be a bit of a slog,” writes Philip Oltermann,  the paper Berlin’s correspondent.

Last night, BBC Newsnight’s Jeremy Paxman hosted a discussion between the author Timur Vermes  and writer Sophie Hardach. Ms Hardach, a relatively unknown Jewish writer was definitely not amused. She advised the best selling German author how best to develop his plot and, surprise, surprise, to incorporate the plight of the Jews. Never was the word Chutzpah more appropriate!

But Timur Vermes  just seemed to be amused by it all and confirmed that his fictional Hitler is no Holocaust denier – on the contrary, he is pretty proud of it all.

I guess it’s all inevitable. The Germans have decided to move on and are freeing themselves from their traumatic past and the oppressive manner with which it has been handled.

Let’s hope it won’t be long before they start, once more, to write great symphonies and the best philosophy ever.

Back in the 1930’s and 1940’s there were also gifted liars just like now. And when the history came to be written there were plenty of academics willing to write what was needed to bolster the West and hide its war crimes and crimes against humanity. The two bombs for Japan were justified by the lie that otherwise a million American soldiers would have died storming that nation. Nuremberg was actually a disgrace and Justice was so outrage it left early on. Hardly necessary if the Allies only wore white hats . . . So who knows what went on back then except as filtered through the minds of propaganda intoxicated historians and politicians. But for the Zionists who actively participated with the Nazis the pay out has been marvelous both in reparations and land. Justice would have America paying reparations to the Afghan people and those of Iraq for a long long time. And for Vietnam. And Syria and Libya.

Ynet says the book is funny, but I can not see it, maybe this is Woody Allen or Seinfeld style.

In one scene, the Nazi leader asks a group of boys for directions, addressing them as “Ronaldo Hitler youth”. He has mistaken their football shirts bearing the name of the soccer star as some kind of military uniform.

“Who’s the old guy?” the boys ask each other.

Such is the tone in the nearly 400-page novel by Timur Vermes, a 45-year-old journalist.

Consider this from Cli Fi Central (funny name, no idea what it means)

”Er ist wieder da” …aka ”he’s baaaaaaack!” Timur Vermes, “German” author of “Er ist wieder da” is perhaps of Jewish heritage himself, as he is half Hungarian and half German on his mum’s side. So this book was not written by a German, but a mixed blood halfbreed. Is this why he could so coolly target Hitler in a bad-taste way? A German writer could not do this.

He looks like a schtetl character.

Yes, move on Germany, but NATO is preparing for war and guess who the Zionists have designated for the sacrificial lamb?
