VT Nuclear Education: Nukes in Iraq, Confirmation UPDATED

neutron_bombIntroduced by  Gordon Duff, Senior Editor

“…both Baghdad and Tora bora were nuked. They worked so well that they are here to stay. Any future battle will use them. The joint chiefs of staff stated after the battle of Baghdad that if we had used these in Vietnam we would have won. Never again will we ever lose with weapons like this in our arsenal. Mini and Micro nukes are here to stay so get use to it. Advanced bio- weapons “Ebola” and “Bug Spray” are next.”

The following text was submitted by two groups.  One is the IAEA, the United Nations nuclear watchdog group that has given us so much quality material over the past few months.  The remainder is from scientists at one of our nuclear weapons labs.

We have collectively taken it upon ourselves to inform the public of how real nuclear weapons work, how they are being used and what the future can expect.

Toward that end, for those who have not been following this series, please catch up where you can.  As much of this material is written by and for nuclear weapons designers, we are mixing input from sources of general interest with highly technical and often very classified material that few will understand thoroughly.

Our only goal with this series is to expand knowledge of the use of nuclear weapons, trends in development and limitations for deployment.

A key issue to note is that the wealth of material leaked by us already has consistently passed “muster.”  Our standing offer to weapons scientists and researchers with questions:  Submit them, we will get them answered as we have over the past few months.  We are sharing information, not peddling opinions.

In response to a legitimate comment that posed this question:  If neutron bombs were used at the Baghdad Airport in 2003, why did soil have to be removed for decontamination?  (Questioned submitted to and answered by the International Atomic Energy Agency)

A:There is radiation and there is fallout.

A. Radiation from Neutrons, Gamma Rays and X Rays will dissipate over a period of about 72 hrs down to within 10% of normal background levels. This is energy that is absorbed by atoms in the primary nuclear blast and it is slowly re-radiated over time.

B. Fallout is a different story. It consists of unburnt radioactive particles left over from the detonation of radioactive fuel such as Pu-239 etc. Not all of the Plutonium is consumed in a nuclear blast. About 10% will remain as radioactive fallout. It is equal to about 6 grams of unburnt fuel per 1KT of energy released. This along with other radioactive isotopes produced in the blast are what we call fallout. It has to be decontaminated by removing the radioactive top soil. Contaminated material is usually only a few inches deep and it usually is centered directly under the ground zero blast zone. As in 911. The blast zone is usually only a thousand feet wide when a small neutron bomb is used at ground level. If a larger one is used at high altitude then fallout is less of a problem and it is widely dispersed requiring minimal decontamination.

C. When ever any nuclear weapon is used there will always be some fallout material produced. The only difference between a conventional nuclear weapon and a enhanced nuclear weapon or a Neutron bomb is only in the type of radiation produced and its blast effects. Remember Plutonium in the micro-gram level is still poisonous if consumed.

The U.S. military used neutron weapons in the Battle of Baghdad, says a former commander of Iraq’s Republican Guard. And at least one retired U.S. Army officer is backing up his charge.

In an April 9 interview reported by Al Jazeera, Saifeddin Fulayh Hassan Taha al-Rawi says that, “U.S. forces used neutron bombs during their assault on Baghdad airport before the April 9, 2003, capture of the Iraqi capital.”

The bombs incinerated about 2,000 elite Republican Guard troops but left the buildings and infrastructure at the airport intact, he added. (aljazeera.net)

The neutron bomb is designed to produce a minimal blast while releasing a massive wave of neutron and gamma radiation, which can penetrate armor or several feet of earth. This radiation is extremely destructive to living tissue. The bomb has been in the U.S. arsenal for decades but has never been used in combat before.

Writing on April 13 for the Danger Room blog at Wired, Hambling says that from the description al-Rawi gives in the Al Jazeera interview of a series of explosions that killed the occupants of buildings without destroying the structures, “Interestingly, there is a weapon in the U.S. arsenal designed to do exactly that. … The AGM-114N.”

Hambling continues, “On May 15th, 2003, just a few weeks after the action at Baghdad airport, Donald Rumsfeld praised the new weapon. … Although officially described as ‘metal augmented’ or even ‘hyperbaric,’ the new warhead is not distinguishable from thermobaric weapons which produce the same sort of enhanced blast with a lower overpressure and longer duration for more destructive effects. Like many thermobarics, the AGM-114N used finely powdered aluminum. The military are generally quiet about thermobarics because they have received such bad press. Human Rights Watch criticized them because they ‘kill and injure in a particularly brutal manner over a wide area.’ “

A BBC News article on March 4, 2002, said the U.S. was using thermobaric weapons in Afghanistan, and described how they employ a combination of heat and pressure, “distributing a very fine cloud of explosive material throughout the target which is then ignited. The heat and pressure effects are formidable—soldiers caught in the blast could have the air sucked from their bodies and even their internal organs catastrophically destroyed.”

“The best evidence that I have from international sources, scientific sources, is that our position was becoming untenable at the Baghdad airport and we used a neutron warhead, at least one. That is the big secret of Baghdad airport.

“If one looks into international data, there are reportings of enhanced radiation of some livestock, and of human metabolic effects—death and disease. It explains why, after the Battle of Baghdad, we got fragmentary stories of things like truckloads of dirt being moved out and moved in. It made no particular sense at the time, until one puts it into perspective, as a decontamination operation. Again, that part of the Battle of Baghdad, the fact that we went nuclear, explains a lot of things that came out afterwards and also explains why it is that it had to be covered up.”

Whether it was a neutron bomb or the AGM-114N, the Pentagon used some sort of Weapon of Mass Destruction on Baghdad airport.

The complete fusion of 6 grammes of deuterium and about six grammes of tritium would produce an explosion of one kiloton. 56 grams of plutonium are necessary to create a one-kiloton fission reaction

The power of the nuclear reaction derives from the fact that the “fast neutrons” emitted in a thermonuclear reaction create more energy than neutrons produced in fission. Frank Barnaby notes that “the neutrons produced during the fusion process have much greater energy than fission neutrons.

On average, each deuterium-tritium fusion event produces 14 MeV of free neutron energy, compared with 3 MeV for each fission event.” Moreover, “fusion is a more efficient explosive process than fission. The complete fusion of, for example, about 6 grammes of deuterium and about six grammes of tritium would produce an explosion of one kiloton.” By comparison, about 56 grams of plutonium are necessary to create a one-kiloton fission reaction.

The deadly effects of the explosion are created both by heat, blast and neutron radiation. According to Barnaby, within a 500 meter radius of a one-kiloton ER blast, everything would simply disappear (primarily from heat and blast effects). Within one kilometer (KM), there would be immediate incapacitation and early death (within hours from the neutron and gamma radiation) for all exposed individuals.

Within two KM of ground zero, there would be severe radiation sickness, and most exposed individuals would die within a few weeks. It might be emphasized that these effects would result from use of a warhead one-fifteenth to one-twentieth the yield of the devices used at Hiroshima and Nagasaki (1KT) and that outside the immediate heat and blast area (the 500-meter radius), very little collateral damage would occur.

These weapons are thus very lethal. “A neutron bomb would have the same radiation (neutron)-killing capability, at a given range, as a ‘normal’ nuclear weapon of about five times the explosive power.” If delivery capabilities allow it, the weapons can be used highly selectively.

At the same time, since fusion produces no residual radiation, “the cleanest bomb would be a fission-fusion bomb with the minimum amount of fission necessary to trigger the thermonuclear reaction.”

The missile-equipped enhanced radiation warhead is a theater weapon. The use of small ER warheads to attack and incapacitate the enemy through exposure to intense neutron radiation is said to have at least three tactical advantages. First, because of reduced heat and blast damage, “they would make minimizing collateral damage easier to achieve.” Since heat and blast are limited to the immediate zone around the blast, it is thus argued that there would be less damage to buildings and landscape than with other weapons.

Second, since there is virtually no residual radiation from the weapons (other than the radiation from the fission trigger), forces could occupy the attacked area within a matter of hours without special protective clothing and without fear of contamination. Third, if the enemy were attacked outside the limited area where heat and blast effects occur but inside the zone of intense radioactivity (the one-kilometer zone in the example above where radiation achieves the necessary 800 rad level), the weapons themselves would be largely undamaged and could be appropriated for friendly use.

  • The penetrating character of the neutrons emitted from ER warheads through substances like concrete obviates the protection from lethal effects against which the shelters are designed. Reinforced concrete shelters can be hardened against both heat and blast effects of nuclear weapons, but their protective capacities against neutron radiation is questionable. While undoubtedly there would be degradation of the radiation effect due to absorption, uncertainty about the level of contamination that people within the shelters would suffer has to force recalculation of any possible survival of inhabitants. As radiation properties are enhanced and delivery capabilities reduce targeting errors to the point of near certainty of hitting a target, the probability of lethality will increase.

  • The accuracy of the cruise missile makes it an excellent delivery system for ER warheads. In order to best ensure that a target is within the effective radius of the neutron radiation of an ER warhead, it is necessary to ensure that there is a high level both of penetrability of the weapon (to ensure that it gets to its target) and accuracy of delivery. The cruise missile, whose ” guidance allows pinpoint accuracy, sufficient to destroy many hard targets,” can be fired accurately enough to ensure a high probability of kill adequate to dissuade anyone who felt he could survive an attack. Versions of the weapon currently under development have a circular error probable of 100 feet at a range of 2000 kilometers. This accuracy figure can be compared to the destructive impact of a one-KT neutron warhead, to get some idea of lethal effect.
Current cruise missiles are comparatively primitive and technology is available to produce “a future fleet of cruise missiles that is tied together through data links at a control center, which keeps track of their position and performance.” Such a system could direct re targeting and evasive actions, among other things. The ALCM is thus not only a very effective attack weapon, but it will in all likelihood improve significantly.

  • Because the cruise missile is obviously a second-strike weapon, which can be used in conjunction with the most controllable leg of Triad (the strategic bomber force), the use of ER-tipped weapons can be withheld until the situation is sufficient to justify their use. Improved command and control associated with the Trident submarine makes the sea-launched version of cruise an attractive platform as well, given its high survivability. As has been suggested, the strategic utility of ER warheads would be in reinforcing its effects against military personnel. Thus, the weapons would serve the ultimate counter value deterrent purpose of threatening to kill people, a mission which is the logical extension of MAD. These usage scenarios imply that the United States would want to be in a maximal position to control and withhold these weapons as long as possible during an exchange. The ALCM fired from SAC bombers (B-52s or converted 747-type aircraft) or Trident-launched SLCMs seem to fit that need.

  • As Ohlert states, “The cruise missile represents the ideal in offensive weaponry for a second-strike oriented nation. Its slow speed precludes its use as a first-strike weapon, while its high pre-launch survivability deters an opponents first-fire decision.” Thus, the high lethality of these weapons, delivered with great accuracy above or near the shelters (probably low air blasts), would put some of the terror back into the “balance of terror,” while not being as provocative as they would if launched from other platforms such as ICBMs (which, as they become more vulnerable, will require progressively earlier launch). For ER weapons to be effective tools, one must have maximum control of them, and the enemy must know this control exists: the terror they engender can be allayed by an enemy’s knowing the U.S. will use them only in desperate situations and knowing the U.S. has the capacity to control them until such use is absolutely necessary.

In addition to technical nuclear info being available online, it is also available in Kindle format.

If you want to properly understand this domain, then get yourself a copy. You don’t need to own a Kindle to read a Kindle book. You can also download and read on a laptop or tablet (using the free Amazon e-reader).

Here’s link to UK Amazon page tinyurl.com/technobabble-kindle

Switch to your nationalized Amazon website for pricing in your local currency.

Gordon … you are mentioned in one important chapter my book. As they were so good and leading-edge, I had to quote from a couple of your 2013 era articles with all the usual pleasantries, acknowledgements, and appreciations of course!

Toxic Trinity Technobabble … contains a huge amount of endnotes, and appendices. Making it a useful reference resource. Hope it contributes something good and lasting to this ongoing debate.

Actually, I need (and would appreciate) constructive feedback from the kind of guys who log-in to this esteemed website. It’ll be about the only way I could learn if I’ve done a reasonable job writing it … or not.

P.S. I (the author) once worked for British Nuclear Fuel’s Uranium Enrichment division at Capenhurst — actually inside the UF6 process plant. Then later, as a BNFL engineer, visited Windscale on 2 occasions. So please take this book seriously. You will learn a lot. I can be contacted via my website. The URL is given inside my Amazon “Product Description” spiel.

    Oh No Not Again.
Among the many (and there are several) not so promising developments I see on the landscape,
There is a push (I know, ISIS/ISIL is ‘old news’, we have been there done that,
but they are being rolled out as the booga booga thing, (including domestically)
and there is a push to basically restart the (damn) Iraq war (on what scale is to be determined)!
    Good Grief!

Beirut Marine bombing was Mossad False Flag Operation
“I reported that Marine had been sent there to become the focus of a major incident. The Mossad is to arrange for a number of our Marines to be killed in an incident that will be blamed on Arabs! This will be used to inflame American public opinion to help us lead into war including ultimately nuclear war,” – Dr. Beter, a Pentagon analyst, November 3, 1982.

Next month many US Marines will be commemorating the 26th anniversary of the murders of their 241 fellow Marines who fell victim to Israeli false flage operation – just like Israeli attack on USS Liberty to make Muslims and Arabs look as enemies of Americans.

On October 23, 1983 – at 6 20 a.m. – A truck packed with explosives slammed into US Marine barracks at Beirut Internation Airport – killing 241 Marines, mostly asleep.

Gordon, just to repeat my question on the other thread

Do the Russians/Chinese have these weapons

Is there any visual effect when used, like a big nuke’s mushroom cloud?

    • Gordon Duff  August 16, 2014 at 3:24 pm

      not deployable

    • JohninMK  August 17, 2014 at 3:41 am

Thanks, to have an imbalance, that’s scary.

    • KatherineA  August 17, 2014 at 7:47 am

Similar question Does ANY other country or major political entity have these weapons, like Israel, UK, France, etc.? And is any other country, including China and Russia, close to having deployable versions of these weapons?

    • frederick muhlbauer  August 30, 2014 at 4:23 am

İm sure is the US/İsrael has them then so do the Russians

more war crimes by a District of Criminals, never prosecuted. salting the earth with depleted uranium is every bit as genocidal as what izrahell is doing to people in their private torture concentration camp. it is ALL beyond evil, and they THINK they are clever? they cant wait to get to hell so they bring it here, brilliant!

We decided to burn down cities full of women and children in 1864 while the able-bodied men were off to war. I can’t say whether or how big of a precedent that was, but it was a conscious decision born of desperation to achieve the goal of saving the republic. I can’t say I have a good idea of the real goals in the current war, but the parallels to the book of Joshua are amazing. Note that when Netanyahu was asked by Ted Koppel in the first Gulf War what he tells his children about the war, Bibi replied “I read to them from the book of Joshua”.

So what does Joshua say that Israel so fervently believes in? It says that God ordered the Israelis to go to each city of Palestine (er, I meant Canaan) and do the following

    1. Create a diversion to draw the fighting men out of the city.
    2. Ambush the fighting men and kill them.
    3. Enter the city and kill everyone and everything therein.
    4. Loot the city of its valuables.
    5. Burn the city to destroy the evidence of what happened.

Articles describing the means and ways in which technicians produce and use a variety of WMD’s are always of philosophical and technical interest. What puzzles me is how authors, commentators, and analysts describe double-bind methods of massive annihilation while projecting a future for humanity.

The World of Tomorrow is constantly being sold as a utopian innovation. World Fairs showcase pre-modern, modern, and post-modern technologies that will make human life something to behold and exalt; yet, we read about Chernobyl and Fukushima and the after-effects of radiation, the destruction and toxicity of continents and oceans, disabling cancers, genetic mutations, and lingering death.

The level of architectural-engineering and facility design demonstrated in the Olympic venues in Japan, China, England, and Russia are dazzling and breathtaking. Coinciding with these monumental achievements are an associated fear that a collective gathering of people in a stadium will suffer the sum of all fears, an obliterating event.

The production of atomic-nuclear energy-based platforms that produce radioactive waste material in need of storage in deep underground caverns and steel-encased drums for oceanic depositories has me baffled.

As a side note to this issue is the relative functional insanity associated with an Ender’s Game, Atomic Train, and Olaf Stapledon’s Last and First Men, the fear of an atmospheric chain-reaction, a firestorm of molecular disintegration on a planetary scale.

  11. Allesandro  August 16, 2014 at 6:21 am

There’s always the argument that it saved the lives of our soldiers, but then there’s the argument that we got into the conflict knowing we had these “Special” weapons to fall back on just in case things got too ugly in a conventional fight with conventional weapons. So, we knew these would be used if things got bad enough.

So, where does it end? Supposing the minimum neutron weapon was 100 times more powerful, that instead of 2,000 Republican Guard it would be 20,000 or 200,000 would we still use it?

And death by thermoberic is unconscionable also. I still don’t like the idea that we’re lied to with impunity, or certain material facts are UN-disclosed. This article and others like it may change the situation.

for sure the greater the number eliminated the better in their evil zionist minds

  12. williammartin  August 16, 2014 at 1:16 am

I might also add that while for the benefit of Science this information is interesting however it is of no value to JOHN Q. PUBLIC. What it does show is that the above mentioned “Christian’s” who proudly hang a cross around their neck’s would just as well pull a trigger and push a button and kill million’s for that US DOLLAR that enslaves the world to mass debt and interest on that debt that will never be repaid. Not in my life nor in my children’s children’s lives.

Hundreds of US Military Bases to keep those in subjection to that DOLLAR that in the case of BRICS the US urging the EU and others is willing to risk a Nuclear War for that dollar as the EMPIRE dies.
IT HAPPENED BEFORE (TWICE) and IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. Because those “F’s” at the Pentagon won’t be going nor fighting.. They’ like before will be sending OUR KIDS. Which is why I assume the influx of Central American’s to fill the voided Job’s of American’s that will be drafted to KILL KILL KILL for the US DOLLAR. ( THE UNITED STATES HAS NEVER BEEN ATTACKED! ) Hawaii wasn’t a State until 1959 and legally is still stolen grounds. Today its funny that American’s will send their sons to die for a folded flag MADE IN CHINA.

    • guitargirl  August 16, 2014 at 6:04 am

It is sickening is it not, Williammartin?

But try to see the positive side
the veil of secrecy has been lifted
and more and more people each day
are seeing what Empire is doing.

It will not last, this shall pass too!

Looks like Michael Aquino was born in 1946 to Michael Aquino Sr and Betty Ford. At that time Betty Ford was married to William G. Warren (they divorced in 1947 and she married Gerald Ford in 1948). He claims his mother to be Betty Ford in his PhD dissertation http //pt.slideshare.net/UnitB166ER/the-neutron-bomb-by-michael-a-aquino

It is becoming less and less of a secret that the new world order is a satanic plot and these satanists are operating pretty much everywhere. Fritz Springmeier has written and lectured on this for decades. Here is a very extensive book online

  15. Mike Kay  August 15, 2014 at 10:52 pm

    Mr. Duff,
You say you want questions, not opinions.
My questions follow; If the radiation of neutron bombs dissipates quickly and offers no toxicity after a short period of time, why was earth moved around Baghdad airport in a detox operation?
Further, how exactly can radioactivity simply dissipate? Is the claim then, that the radioactive elements fully consume and/or transform into more benign elements?
    Please enlighten.

    • Gordon Duff  August 16, 2014 at 5:51 am

As promised…I sent it on. Yes, good question.

    • Mike Kay  August 16, 2014 at 5:10 pm

      Mr. Duff,
OK, so 10% of any neutron ignition remains. This sits upon volatile topsoil, which is extremely mobile. As long as the blast area is controlled, topsoil can be removed, and that specific site can be “cleaned”.
      2 things come to mind.
      1) What is the composition of the fallout?
      2) Is the fallout atmospherically mobile? That is, does radioactive fallout act like dust, which when disturbed, goes airborne and hangs in the air to breathed in?
      Thanks for the above reply.

      William, Jim, and John,
We are already at war. This war is like no other, because it has to do with something very large, and very essential. Like all wars it is a struggle for power, for control, for the ability to try to call the shots.
I am attempting to understand the parameters of what those prosecuting this war are. This is important for survival, but also to glimpse strategy and mindset.
Religion, as in the big three, was engineered to make you a compliant drone. It worked for 2,000 years, and among the easily led it is still working, but don’t you all see the recent step up? Don’t you comprehend that the snarling toadie from the greatest criminal presidency that ever existed is threatening all of us?
It is war, gents. Get ready.

    • Gordon Duff  August 18, 2014 at 3:07 pm

Between Catholics and evangelicals, that makes up 80% of American Christians, heretics. If 35% of Americas are nominally “Christian,” only 7% of Americans are actual Christians.

No idiot would ever consider Moonies, Mormons, rapture freaks or pope worshippers Christians. Of the 7%, half of those are buggerers, malcontents and con men.
That leaves you and me and I am an atheist.
