Russian Jets Hit 60 ISIL, Nusra Front Targets in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian Aerospace Force has conducted 55 sorties over the past 24 hours, hitting 60 ISIL and Nusra Front targets in Syria’s provinces of Hama, Lattakia, Damascus, Idlib, Aleppo and Deir ex-Zor, the Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday.

Russian bombers destroyed 19 terrorist command centers, 30 firing positions, 9 fortified areas, 2 ammunition depots, a plant producing arms and explosives, 3 terrorist fighting vehicles and 6 off-road vehicles over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman said, Sputnik News reported.

The Russian Aerospace Force has hit and destroyed a large terrorist base with a command post and a disguised ammunition depot in Idlib, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

An ISIL command post and a communication center have been destroyed in the Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province by the Russian aviation, Konashenkov said.

Russia has received an agreed memorandum from the United States on the prevention of air incidents in the Syrian airspace, he said.

“This morning we received a memorandum agreed by our US colleagues on the prevention of air incidents in the Syrian Arab Republic,” Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters.

Moscow hopes that the memorandum will concern all countries taking part in the US-led coalition’s air campaign against ISIL. The US vowed to share the safety rules with all parties operating in Syria, Konashenkov added.

“We believe that the signing of such a document is an important step that has practical importance.

It is necessary to establish cooperation with Pentagon on rescuing pilots in Syria also, the Russian defense ministry’s spokesman said.
