Report: Downing of Russian Warplane over Syria Starts Rift between Erdogan, Army
TEHRAN (FNA) – The crisis that started by Turkey’s shooting down of the Russian Su-24 bomber in the Syrian airspace is leading to a standoff between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the country’s army, Turkish media reports said.

The Arab media outlets quoted a Turkish-language daily, Suju, as reporting that Erdogan and the Turkish army’s joint chief of staff are now at odds after the Turkish president in contradictory remarks claimed that Ankara did not know that the warplane was Russian when targeting it.

“We would have acted differently if we had known that the fighter jet was Russian,” Erdogan said.

The Turkish paper quoted an informed military source as saying that Erdogan had taken a “hasty” position and declared that the army had been unable to identify the nationality of the plane in official remarks, “and this complicated the problem”.

“Had the politicians kept quiet, we could have resolved the problem very fast,” the unnamed source told the Turkish daily, according to the Arab media.

After Turkey shot down Russia’s Su-24 bomber as it was conducting an anti-terrorism operation against terrorists in Syria, the relations between the two countries strained.

Only a few days into the incident, Russia deployed S-400 air defense system to take harsh measures against any possible threats in Syria by tracing 300 targets at ranges up to 400 kilometers.

Military explanations show that the sophisticated air defense shield can cover the entire Syrian airspace.

Informed sources said earlier today that the Turkish Air Force has warned its pilots to avoid any further violation of the Syrian airspace after Russia deployed its sophisticated S-400 anti-aircraft missile system in Lattakia.

The arrival of S-400 system coupled with the Russian fighter jets’ maneuvers along the Turkish border, has forced Ankara to take prudent measures to ease tensions with the Russian Federation after they downed the latter’s SU-24 bomber in Syia’s Lattakia province on Tuesday, the sources said.

The Russian Air Force amplified the number of airstrikes along the Turkish border on Saturday, striking the Turkish backed ISIL militants at the Aleppo border-city of A’zaz and inside the Turkmen Mountains of Northern Lattakia.

Now no Turkish plane can violate the Syrian airspace even in the mountainous areas due to the capabilities of S-400 air defense systems.

On Tuesday, a Turkish F-16 shot down the Su-24, claiming that the aircraft violated its airspace. Russian officials and the Su-24 pilot, who survived the crash, insist that the plane did not cross into Turkey. The crew, according to the pilot, did not receive any warning prior to the attack.

The Russian media reported on Thursday that the country has already deployed S-400 missile defense systems in Syria, a move many political and military analysts see as the start of Moscow’s response to NATO following the downing of its bomber by Turkey over Syria.

The S-400, an upgrade of the S-300 Growler family, is a new-generation anti-aircraft defense system operated solely by the Russian military. The S-400 ensures air defense using long- and medium-range missiles that can hit aerial targets at ranges of up to 400 kilometers (almost 250 miles).

In what is a prime example of twisted logic, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Russia against using its ultra-modern S-400 air defense system to shoot down Turkish fighter jets if they violate Syrian airspace just days after Ankara brought down a Russian Su-24 bomber.

  1. @Connie
Even if the incident with the SU-24 was a fake, there is no question that the Russian passenger plane was real. Putin knows who’s responsible and they ain’t going to get away with it.

    1. The Russia fighter jet was shot down. But I’m highly suspicious of the parachute shoot down of the pilot video as explained in my comment below. That the Russian passenger plane shoot down is linked to this incident needs to be analyzed. But I’m positive Turkey was sacrificed. Now think of Cui Bono. Alliances shift and Russia can do psy-ops as well as the US &/or Mossad. If you search; aixXK4kPRh0 you should come up with a video titled “Who Sold Turkey Down The River? – Joaquin”. This is a better in-depth analysis of this topic that I have simply touched on.

  2. Seeing as the banksters now run Italy, I don’t see how Mussolini’s fate is a reason to oppose the NWO. If anything, that does just the opposite.

  3. People or countries that think Putin cannot use your own strength against you are underestimating the man. He is a master of martial arts the west is foolish to underestimate the discipline and knowledge of this man.
I’m Quite sure Putin see’s the end game better than any man alive and I see him holding all the chips only because its his only way out of this alive. You should never back a bear into a corner.

  4. Great article. Betcha Erdogan will be out soon. He really screwed up this time. Very poor judgement. Perhaps NATO manipulated him into this to investigate Russian Electronic Warfare capabilities which shut down the electrical supply and Aegis system of the America Ship the USS Donald Cook last year. Maybe a victim of greed and RKM/Israeli Mind-kontrol which is pretty sophisticated when combined with their extensive bribes, honey traps and human compromise tactics. Perhaps he drank the KM/Zio Koolaide?
I expected more escalation to continue this test. But now with the state of the art Russian S-400s, further provocations as tests could be disastrous for NATO and Turkey and the EU which is prone mnow to break up.

    1. The agenda is becoming clearer now. Could it be Erdogan was stabed in the back and not Putin?

The Russian passenger jet and fighter plane attacks give approval for Russia to deploy whatever it deems necessary by way of armaments to Syria. Whoever briefed Erdogan to condone this shoot down could already have been aware that this action might bring about the downfall of the Israeli controlled Government of Turkey. With the Paris attacks, the world is in lock-sinq in it’s goal to eradicate ISIS.

A formidable coalition is assembling including France, Britain, Russia, Iran and more to enter the Syrian fray. Bear in mind that this is on the doorstep of Israel. The U.S. is saying a lot and sending in token fighters supposedly supporting the rebel forces against Assad, but also stating Assad is not the problem. Makes one question on who’s side the U.S. is really on, or are they orchestrating the final overthrow of the Zionist regime?

The fact is that without Turkey and a questionable alliance with Egypt, with only the corrupt puppet Saudi Arabia (at war in Yemen), and Quaoar as allies, Israel is looking very thin on the ground to resist any offer it is given that it cannot refuse.

    2. I believe he was forced into it. When you are the junior member of a crime family and the others put you up as the patsy, well, what are you going to do about it?

    3. NOTICE that the Turkish Army source did NOT complain about the shootdown, only about Erdogans big mouth (exposing the Turkish establishment for what Shaitanic beauty it is).

    4. @ CoJonesGrandes I think you’re on the right track. Turkey was thrown under the bus– but by whom and why? Turkey had nothing to gain from this, but who did? Furthermore, I don’t think any pilot died. Russia lost a fighter jet but the video of the shooting of the parachuting pilot is highly suspect– a commentator on a video featuring Joaquin Flores who is followed by Fort Russ pointed out the unlikelihood of a ‘jihadist’ immediately being on location to film it, helicopter doesn’t look like Russian Hind, never see the face of SU-24 navigator giving the interview who keeps his back to camera, celebrating Turkmen have immaculate clothes and boots. (end comment) But now Russia has reason to deploy s-400’s effectively creating a no-fly zone over Syria and securing its access to the Syrian port at Tartus which is strategically critical for Russia. The video I’m referring to might be found by searching– Who Sold Turkey Down The River? – Joaquin, or go to– 108morris108.

    5. Some of them would like to surrender but it’s too late now. I think those who have not already turned, will all be killed. I’ve heard that there’s a game changer coming in a month’s time. You will know when it’s here. Everyone will know. It’s not something that can be kept hidden. But these are only my personal views and I could be very wrong

  5. Israel is now claiming that Russia violated “Israeli controlled” airspace over the Golan Heights and they “chose not to” shoot it down.

As Jim Dean would say, you can’t make this stuff up.
