Syria government forces have regained control of historic area of Palmyra, Syrian brigadier-general said.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, when mass anti-government protests against President Bashar Assad escalated to an armed confrontation between government troops and allied militia on the one hand, and Syrian opposition factions and radical Islamists on the other.Palmyra has been under Daesh control since May 2015. The terrorist group, which is outlawed in many countries, including Russia and the United States, has already destroyed part of the ancient city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

    Mr. GPD__

 You know what is sad about these, President al-Assad
should have been the last Leader in the Middle-East to
    Deserve all these.

 Not to mention, the Killing of his people & turning to Dust
The Modern Infrastructure, but also destroying the
Cradle of Christianity & the Cradle of Civilization.

You should to read Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War”. Leaving a road open for the enemy to retreat, is a sound strategy. Fighting is less intense, thus territory is easily gained. The demoralised retreating troops also assist in demoralising the enemy within their lines.

Amongst all the players in this great game, only Assad has genuine intentions. The Russians have their own agenda, which seems to fit right in line with Israel’s wish to federalise Syria.

Right, “supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.”

Surely “Israel’s” plan to balkanize Syria takes something stronger than simply federalizing it… The different provinces, while gaining greater local control, would still be under Syria’s federal government. As long as that remains anti-NWO, it would be difficult for individual provinces to side with the NWO, particularly now that what it is and what it did to Syria is so exposed.

“Instead of settling conflicts [the United States] leads to their escalation, instead of sovereign and stable states we see the growing spread of chaos, and instead of democracy there is support for a very dubious public ranging from open neo-fascists to Islamic radicals.
      ~ Vladimir Putin, 2014

Once the whole Palmyra area is secured it would be very interesting to discover the mindset behind the definite pattern of the systematic destruction of all the antiquities in this area. Some parts of underground Palmyra have never been fully investigated by any archaeologists and there had been speculation that showed that previous evidence pointed to massive new history rewriting discoveries.

Well this is good news, even for a preliminary report. Syrian strategy has typically always been to leave on retreat road open. But we have expected to see the Hind helicopters to chop the retreating columns to peices in the open roads and they can see them at night. Maybe the jihadis have been retreating with one vehicle every 300 to 500 yards. But it they are just letting them retreat then that is a shame letting them get back to Raqqa into their prepared defenses.
