We feature Thorne Dreyer’s classic 2015 interview with Bernie Sanders, and iconic Austin singer-songwriter Leeann Atherton joins us in studio for conversation and performance.

Leeann Atherton, who can belt out a song like few others, moves from blues to gospel to southern rock and more. A fixture in the progressive and countercultural communities, she has built up a big, raucus, following for her Friday night gigs at Austin landmark venue, Maria’s Taco Xpress, and for her own Full-Moon Barn Dances. In the words of Margaret Moser, famed Austin Chronicle music columnist: “When it comes to barn-burning vocalists from Austin… they don’t come any hotter than Leeann Atherton. She’s got southern fireball pipes that don’t quit and an indefatigable spirit.”

After visiting with Leeann, we reprise Thorne Dreyer’s lively interview with U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders. The interview was recorded and broadcast live just over a year ago, on March 27, 2015, just before Sanders officially announced that he was running for president. We nudged Bernie to make his announcement on our show, but he just chuckled. Sure sounded like a candidate!
