The term ‘gamechanger’ is perhaps over-used; however, in this case, it would seem apropos. As we have reported on several times in the recent past, Israel’s much vaunted ‘Iron Dome’ anti-missile shield is vapourware, it would provide no more defence against missiles fired at Israel than a giant Yamuka would, perhaps less. This is due to the secret behind the Iron Dome – it was reliant on two US AEGIS-equipped warships sitting offshore in the Mediterranean. Obama withdrew those ships in 2014 as a way to leverage Israel out of both the Iran nuke deal and US politics, thus rendering the Iron Yamuka impotent.
Therefore it matters not how modern or sophisticated Hezbollah’s 100,000 missiles are, what matters is that Israel is a tiny piece of real estate and terribly vulnerable to missile strikes – everything is in range of even short range missiles placed close to it’s borders; whether it is downtown Tel-Aviv or the IDF’s bases, it is vulnerable to a hail of missiles.
As crazed and seemingly out of touch with reality as Netanyahu can seem at times, he isn’t stupid and neither are his military advisers – the Israelis are well aware of their terribly vulnerable position and they know that the world took notice and was thoroughly disgusted, infuriated in fact, by the images of gleeful Israelis in comfortable chairs atop the Gazan hills watching the Palestinians being obliterated by Israeli bombardment. With those images of gleeful Israelis fresh in the memory, most outside Israel would feel that the Israelis were reaping what they sowed should they become the ones on the receiving end of a hail of rockets and bombs. Sympathy for Israel would be in rather short supply….
TEHRAN (FNA)- Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami disclosed that the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance group is in possession of over tens of thousands of missiles, which are all ready to launch and hit Israeli targets.
“Today 100,000 missiles in Lebanon are ready to be fired at occupied territories,” General Salami said in his pre-sermon speech at Tehran’s Friday prayers.
The Iranian commander underlined that the US support for Israel shows that this regime is not only an ally of Washington, but one of very close states for damaging Muslims.
“The Zionist regime is the joint product of the strategic policies of the US and Britain in the Muslim world, that are aimed at keeping the Muslim World backward, depressed, buried in history and dependent on the US policies,” he added.
