Busted: Why are the Pyramids not mentioned in the Bible?

There wasn’t a time when I did not feel uneasy about the story of the Israelites’ Exodus from Egypt. Actually, uneasy is an understatement, for I was always irritated by this notorious story of Moses and Pharaoh of Egypt. Somehow, this Israelite tale couldn’t seem to fit in the history of ancient Egypt nor in my mind. Unlike most people, I couldn’t take that incredible tale for granted.

Whenever we say ‘the Exodus’ everybody unconsciously and instantly recognizes the story as the fleeing of the Israelites headed by Moses from the grip of Egypt’s ruthless Pharaoh. Thanks to the Church, Synagogue, and Mosque and of course Hollywood films this Exodus story has sunk deep in the collective subconscious of the masses, so deep that the story of Moses and Pharaoh has turned into an almost unshakable historical truth that once took place in Ancient Egypt.

But actually nothing in the ‘milieu of that story’ indicates that it happened in Egypt, except maybe the mistaken association between ‘Pharaoh’ and ‘King’ of Egypt.

Likewise, nothing in ancient Egyptian records or its oral tradition say or even allude to the fact that this tale of Moses really happened in Egypt. Even more shocking is the fact that the ancient Egyptian records do not refer to the Kings of Egypt as Pharaohs. Yes, Pharaoh was never a title for Egypt’s king. Linking Pharaoh to Ancient Egypt is merely a myth propagated by centuries of falsehood brought about by misleading interpretation of Biblical history.

Exodus Gods and Kings film-5-2

The only reason we know the story of the Exodus happened in Egypt is because the Bible says so. We keep on believing that is the case because mainstream Egyptologists just went along with the (distorted) Biblical narrative and absentmindedly designated Egypt’s Kings as Pharaohs. But if we examined the Hebrew text the Bible (currently in our hands) used as a reference we will strangely not find Egypt mentioned in it as the site/land of the Exodus story.

The whole mess/deception took place during translating the Hebrew/Aramaic stories into Greek back in the third century BC. This is when Egypt was first hijacked and forcibly placed in the Hebrew Bible as the theater of the Israelite landmark stories. Ironically this whole act of duplicity took place on Egyptian soil and specifically at its legendary library of Alexandria.

But what if the Bible as we know it has long been tampered with?

  • What if the first western translation of the so-called Israelite stories, that came to be known as the Septuagint Bible, was a distorted translation?
  • What if the Israelite stories we all have been made to believe took place in Egypt simply did not?
  • What if Egypt was fraudulently introduced in the Bible as the theater of the Israelite stories?
  • What if the homeland of Judaism and the early Israelites is not Palestine?
  • What if ancient Egypt never knew any so called Pharaohs?
  • What if Abraham, Joseph and Moses never set foot in Egypt nor even dreamed about it?

What if the whole story of the Exodus from Egypt was a fake story, and what if we could prove that it is?

Have you ever wondered why are the Egyptian Pyramids and temples not mentioned in the Bible? Do you know that Egypt is mentioned in the Bible around six hundred times? The number is phenomenal and perplexing at the same time, for no one can revisit Egypt that too many times and never refers to one of its ancient icons; the Pyramids.

On the other hand do you have any idea how many times Israel/Israelites were mentioned in the Egyptian records? Get ready for this surprise; only once. Don’t jump to any hasty conclusions; this is not our evidence that Egypt was not the land of the Exodus; rather this is a prelude to our investigation (as detailed in our book, “Egypt Knew no Pharaohs nor Israelites“)

We were spoon-fed the idea that the Israelites were kept in bondage for almost 400 years (some say 260 years) in Egypt, and yet all of their stories are devoid of any trace of Egyptian influence. Moreover, and to our amazement, slavery was not a common practice in ancient Egypt in the first place. Unlike the pervasive culture of slavery in the Israelite stories, Ancient Egypt never had a public market for trading slaves.

Everything about ancient Egyptian culture; its art, architecture, monuments, people, theology, mythology and pantheon of gods is uniquely strong and influential even to this very day. After such a long sojourn in the land of the Nile Valley, one would have expected to find some trace of Egyptian cultural influence in the Israelite history and narrative, but that was hardly the case. Though the Israelites only spent around seventy years in the Babylonian Captivity, still that short period was documented by both the Israelites and the Babylonians and reference to it is also found in the Persian records.

On the other hand, the Hebrew Bible claims the Israelites sojourned in Egypt for hundreds of years and yet we fail to find any extra-biblical documentation or mention either of the Israelite sojourn or of their exodus in the Egyptian records, or non-Egyptian for that matter.

There wasn’t even any mention of the Pyramids, one of the wonders of the ancient world, in the Israelite stories. You can’t stay that long in Egypt without taking note of the Pyramids. Most foreign historians and military leaders who came to Egypt from late antiquity onwards like Alexander the Great, Strabo, Diodorus Siculus, and of course Herodotus were keen to mention and document their memories and commentaries about the famous site.

“The eighth king, Chemmis of Memphis, ruled fifty years and constructed the largest of the three pyramids, which are numbered among the seven wonders of the world” Diodorus Siculus (90 – 30 BC), library of history.

But when it comes to the Israelites their Hebrew Bible is totally silent about not only the Pyramids, but also any feature of ancient Egyptian culture or architecture.

“This pyramid was made after the manner of steps, which some call “rows” and others “bases”: and when they had first made it thus, they raised the remaining stones with machines made of short pieces of timber” Herodotus (The second book of the Histories 450 BC)

Seventy years of captivity in Babylon have left its mark on the Hebrew culture, the Hebrew Talmud and the Hebrew Bible. Themes from Sumerian and Babylonian mythology like that of the flood, Adam and Eve and the tree of knowledge can be traced in the Hebrew book. Even parallels could be drawn between the birth legend of King Sargon of Akkad and that of Moses.

The four-hundred-year sojourn in Egypt should have left its mark on the Israelites and their culture, but that is nowhere to be found because they have never been to Egypt. And no, the argument that claims the Israelites refrained from being affected by pagan beliefs and culture can’t be considered valid, for all sorts of Sumerian, Assyrian and Babylonian (pagan) cultural influences are jammed into their Torah.

The not so infrequent comparison between King Akhenaten’s monotheism and that of the Israelites is also invalid in essence for the Jewish cult is tribal, militaristic and lacked (actually forbade) any genuine artistic manifestations while that of Akhenaten was universal in nature (built on ancient Egyptian belief in a supreme God) that was celebrated by works of revolutionary art and architecture. Besides Akhenaten’s Aten was an inclusive deity that embraced all his children and not just one specific tribe of the desert.

It is not just the Pyramids but the whole milieu of the Israelite sorties is totally alien to Ancient Egyptian culture and landscape. It is like claiming to have lived for a couple of hundred years in Rome and oddly enough never referring to the ‘Colosseum’, or the Roman way of life, e.g., their fascination with the Gladiatorial Games.

No matter how hard you dig into the Israelite stories you will not find any Egyptian influence, not a speck of impact, except maybe the mention of the word Pharaoh. And guess what; Egypt never knew any Pharaohs either (how about that for a hard-hitting revelation).

What Pyramids-1

“Re-examine your old beliefs” to find out how they they have come to define you. Indeed we are limited, if not pre-conditioned, by our old beliefs and stories. As they once carved our past those same old stories keep on shaping how we view the present. Only the critical scrutiny of some of our old beliefs will decide if they will keep their (unwarranted) authority over us in the future.

Ashraf Ezzat is an Egyptian born in Cairo and based in Alexandria. He graduated from the faculty of Medicine at Alexandria University.

Keen not to be entirely consumed by the medical profession, Dr. Ezzat invests a lot of his time in research and writing. History of the ancient Near East and of Ancient Egypt has long been an area of special interest to him.

In his writings, he approaches ancient history not as some tales from the remote times but as a causative factor in our existing life; and to him it's as relevant and vibrant as the current moment.

In his research and writings Dr. Ezzat is always on a quest trying to find out why the ancient wisdom had been obstructed and ancient spirituality diminished whereas the Judeo-Christian teachings and faith took hold and prospered.

Dr. Ezzat has written extensively in Arabic tackling many issues and topics in the field of Egyptology and comparative religion. He is author of Egypt knew no Pharaohs nor Israelites.

He writes regularly at many well-known online websites such as Dissident Voice and What Really Happened.

Dr. Ezzat is also an independent filmmaker. His debut film was back in 2011 The Annals of Egypt Revolution and in 2012 he made Tale of Osiris a short animation for children.

In 2013 his short The Pyramids: story of creation was screened at many international film festivals in Europe. And he is working now on his first documentary "Egypt knew no Pharaohs nor Israelites".

  1. This is the result of no knowing the dates of all the events. I think Dr.Ezzat believes the people who say Jews were in Egypt 3000 years ago. What if they were their much earlier. Unless you find a written record of when what happened I would suggest you not to make such comments, specially when different religious believes are involved.

  2. Well done Dr Ashraf, so `well` have been bought up with false education I and perhaps thousands of other never gave the pyramids a thought when we had to, as children, suffer religious education. As you have said Hollywood also made sure we associated the pyramids with Egypt in their biblical epics. Good grief what`s up with me I`m 66-years old and I never gave `no pyramids in the bible` a thought. It makes you wonder what else we are mentally blind to.

  3. You people are caught in a trap. We won’t be judged on what we believe, but on what we want to believe – on the disposition of our hearts, not the cleverness of our heads. Love, and above all, moral beauty will be what heaven’s about, but they would be incomprehensible to the likes of psychopaths (not necessarily you noggin-heads!), however brilliant their analytical intelligence, which is only limited for us in this mortal life.

  4. Long story shorty, pyramid is old finno-ugrian language, “py raamit” meaning “holy frames”. Finno-ugrian R1a- Sumerian developed the pyramids from the zigguratis, sumerian step pyramids. There are also many egyptian standards and measurements mentioned in the Bible. Amenmose’ s and Bay’ s followers left Egypt and went to the land of Canaan, BUT also to Greece and developed the ancient Grecian mega culture. Ancient biblical people were Finno-ugrian R1a, called maris and meres. Maris even had a city-state called Mari in todays sirian area. Komis, old R1a- Finno-ugric still speak Finno-ugric “zyrian” language.

Whole history has been faked by third world jewish “hebrews”. Really sick beings, in every way.

  5. I can’t think of a reason why the pyramids would be mentioned in the Bible. I doubt if Stonehenge, the dolmen or Nelson’s column would figure in ecclesial literature of the Christian churches in the UK.

  6. Interesting article, thanks! As a Deist (I believe in God based on reason and Nature) I try to convince people that the Bible is not the word of God and that the ungodly Passover story is an attack on The Supreme Intelligence/God. I also tell people that the Bible story of the Jews being held as slaves in Egypt is nonsense as there are no Egyptian records showing this to be true. I hope your book will awaken more people to the fact that the Bible is just writings by ancient Hebrews/Jews who wrote it to promote themselves, the Jews and Israel above everyone else.

  7. Psalm 118:22

…21 I shall give thanks to You, for You have answered me, And You have become my salvation. 22The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner stone. 23This is the LORD’S doing; It is marvelous in our eyes.…

    Matthew 21:42
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’ ?

    Mark 12:10
    Mark 12:11
This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?”

    Luke 20:17
But Jesus looked directly at them and said, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’ ?

    Acts 4:11

    Ephesians 2:20
built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone.

    1 Peter 2:7
To you who believe, then, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”

    Genesis 49:24
But his bow remained firm, And his arms were agile, From the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob (From there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),

    Isaiah 28:16
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed.

    • When you look up at the Great Pyramid, it’s apex is missing. It is flap topped and not pointed like a pyramid should be.

  8. Try this thought experiment.

Pretend this god they worship, and pray to, and thank for sparing them calamities … pretend she came down and held a press conference to announce her retirement. She tells them she no longer hears their prayers … no longer helps them escape their calamities.

Think about it. There is absolutely zero chance any of her believers would believe her. They would view it as a fraud. She is helpless to inform those who worship her. And you know what? When she goes into retirement, nothing will change … whether they believe her or not.

    Kind of ironic isn’t it.

  9. It is related that during the lost years, Immanuel hit the highway and checked out what was happening in India and Egypt. While in Egypt his new friends invited him to be a candidate for admission into their brotherhood by a process that involved an experience in the great pyramid. After lying supine on top of the sarcophagus in the Kings chamber, together they would flip the switch and that big machine would pyra (fire) up. Slowly at first at an easy idle, then gradually the throttles would open up until the head begins to fill with a big roaring sound as the conscious spirit is being slowly but surely extracted out with eyes that still see everything.
The people in Switzerland will say the great pyramid is 70 thousand years old and it was more like a citadel
where you could go and think without the penetrating thoughts of other gods who wanted your ass dead.

  10. I ve read anywhere that the exodus was that those kings and leading priests/intellectuals of Egypt vanished to Europe and are now in Swiss. Maybe that fake jewish story of the exodus ist just a coverup by the Romans. You know that game. How many people are paid to just write fairytales to spread confusion since the beginning of menkind?
How often was the old testament written down by whom ? And who could read it ?

  11. “On the other hand, the Hebrew Bible claims the Israelites sojourned in Egypt for hundreds of years and yet we fail to find any extra-biblical documentation or mention either of the Israelite sojourn or of their exodus in the Egyptian records, or non-Egyptian for that matter.”

Original Israelites lived in Egypt. They even were a ruling class, calling themselves hapis or hapirus/habirus/ apirus/ ibirus etc. (comes from Nipiru, an Sumerian city.) Egyptologists usually translate ancient names of the Egyptians in a wrong way. For example Imhotep’ s name was Jojomhapit. Htp is frongly translated as h-tep, but it is hapit, meaning hapis.

The Bible is rewritten and falsified, so if you do not find any mention about the pyramids, it does not mean that there were not any habirus. Modern jews have absolutely nothing to do with the ancient nation of the Bible, just nothing. Modern Hebrews (corrupt form of habiru) are Cananean- Turkish third world rubbish. Ancient Sumerian- Egyptian biblical people were Aryan, white finno-ugric speaking R1a- people. Just cannot prove that is wrong.

  12. Here’s a Christian group who thinks that the Great Pyramid is mentioned in the Bible (“In that day shall there be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof… And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt.” —Isaiah 19:19-20)

  13. The Qur’an does not mention anything about six thousand years. It is purely a Genesis thing. So comment with knowledge please. Checking your facts before making gross misstatements is not a way to make arguments. Also, The book of Genesis is the only tool provided by the writers of the carefully calculated ages of lineage which limits the history of world to six thousand years, while empowering people like Richard Dawkins to sell evolution. If this six thousand year history is beyond question: then the atheists have won. This is the only basis for claims that creationism is nonsense–there is nothing else to support evolution which absent this six thousand year nonsense is just a theory as unproven and unprovable as the creationism.

There are only two Judaic religions, don’t lump in the third one without provable basis.

    Thanks.

  14. The Qur’an does not mention anything about six thousand years. It is purely a Genesis thing. So comment with knowledge please.

    • BTW, Egypt is mentioned 5 times by name in Qur’an. The reason the pyramids are not mentioned are because although Egyptians have been miking this thing for a long time, it does not make pyramids important. They are at best tombs, and worship or reverence of tombs or dead people is not supported in Qur’an at least.

  15. The first thing they loot after a war is gold, the second are all libraries to destroy a culture. Then they kill teachers, priests etc. to destroy believe which is not theirs. Bet that most of the libraries before Judaism can be found in the basements of Vatican. See what happens to the Moskow library where you can find old testemonies about the Khazarian Empire by arsenic a few years ago.The whole history since the last iceage is faked and now in Russia is a special investigation about this in progress called “CHRONOLOGY IS THE EXACT SCIENCE” by Anatoly FOMENKO, Gleb NOSOVSKY. Just search for it.

  16. Religion plays a large part of the great deception in this world. The bible has been misinterpreted PURPOSELY for the control of the masses.
Fortunately consciousness is rising and hopefully will be the deciding factor of the history of mankind, do not be distracted.

  17. How come the Ethiopia is the only nation that officially uses the Pharaonic calendar to this day ?

And how come it is in Somalia, Ethiopia’s immediate neighbor and Yemen too, that the iconic Pharaoh’s cat that was worshiped as a deity still survives to this day ?

  18. The ‘Bible’ is notorious for misstatements such that at its face value its statements can not stand in any self-respecting court of law without self-contradicting itself.

Ahmed Deedat in his book ‘The Choice’ Vol 1 and Vol 2 records passages in the Bible that are contradictory.

No wonder the word Bible is derived from the word ‘babble’.

    • What if the victims of World War !! were ‘Mussulman’ as Olga Lengyel claims in her book ‘Five Chimneys’, a book endorsed by Albert Einstein.

The word ‘Mussulman’ is best described for us by George Bush (an American biblical scholar, pastor, abolitionist, academic and advocate for the restoration of the Jews to the Holy Land) as those that profess the religion off Islam.

  19. Are you really astonished if you know who is behind all this BS in the bible ? There were cultures far much older than those who created the bible and who forced us to believe this BS. The more force they must use to make us believe the less truth is behind it.

  20. Read the Mauro Biglino books to be published in USA this autumn. He says that people who followed Moses out from Egypt were for the most NON jews.

  21. Keep on doing hammering it, this is how history is ultimately made by contribution of all of us. Just make sure while you are still doing that, investigate (or rule out) that they might have been in Egypt while it was occupied by Hyksos (?? a possibility)

  22. It wouldn’t surprise me if this bondage in Egypt were a lie, like so much of the rest of their narrative.
