Russia Convenes Emergency UNSC Meeting After US Joins ISIS in Syria

At the request of Russia, the United Nations Security Council is set to convene at 7:30PM ET, only a matter of hours after a US-led airstrike killed 80 Syrian Army forces paving the way for a major Daesh offensive. On Saturday evening the United Nations Security Council will meet to discuss airstrikes by the US-led coalition in Syria which Moscow says targeted and killed some 80 Syrian military personnel only days into the Syrian ceasefire brokered by the United States and Russia.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakhavrova said of the attacks, “If earlier we had suspicions that the Nusra Front is protected this way, now after today’s airstrikes on the Syrian army we come to a really terrifying conclusion for the entire world: the White House is defending IS (Islamic State or Daesh).”

The remarks by the Russian Foreign Ministry represent a sharp escalation in rhetoric between Russia and the United States following in the wake of a disturbing statement by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) saying that the bombing of Syrian forces was unintentional, but claiming that the United States had warned Russia about the attack – a position that Russia vehemently denies and sees as the Obama administration looking to off-put blame for the tragic incident.

Relations between the two-parties regarding Syria also remain tumultuous with Russia continuing to support the Assad regime with a view towards stabilizing the country in order to enable the fight against terrorism and prevent Syria from descending into a failed terrorist ran country.

The United States, by contrast, has long taken the position that “Assad must go” before peace can be established in Syria and has attempted to prop up the so-called “moderate” opposition to the Assad regime while also combating Daesh terrorists. This position has placed the Obama administration in a conundrum with many of the rebels aligning themselves with former al-Qaeda affiliate al-Nusra Front under the umbrella group “The Army of Conquest.”

The ceasefire brokered between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was promising because it called for the two countries to coordinate airstrikes and came replete with a call by the United States for the rebels to disband from their al-Nusra allies.

However, the rebels have refused to remove themselves from the ranks of the al-Nusra Front and have intensified rather than stopped their armed assault against Syrian Army forces in the days since the ceasefire went into effect on September 12.

The latest tragedy in Syria looks to threaten the delicate ceasefire agreement, but at the same time highlights the importance of the deal in bringing the two sides together to coordinate.

Agree, invoke a no fly zone with plenty of warning – then S300 anything that gets in the way. And stop wasting time talking to a bunch of Malignant Narcissistic Sociopaths, because you never know which of their “False Selves” you’re even talking to!

There was a report saying that the planes came from Iraq.
What I wonder about is, what the status of Iraq is these days. Is it still an occupied country?
A somewhat related question is who will pay compensation to the families of the killed soldiers?

You have to understand one thing. Russians don’t think like Americans. Right now, by acting a very subtle way, they are showing to the world who are the real terrorists and how the US establishment people are snakes and protecting the Islamic State they created. Now, they will urge the UN to take position and then, they will clean the whole place. Go to the mainstream medias and read the comments made by readers about the bomb in New York. Most comments are about to nuke Iran to then have peace in the US. They say “look since we nuked the Japanese, they don’t piss us off anymore”. That are the comments !!! Apparently, American population know NOTHING about what really happened last century. So imagine Putin shooting all the US planes in Syria while the American population is convinced that the US are fighting ISIS and spreading democracy over there. People will say that this is the proof that Putin is looking to invade everybody and is agressive, as they always said. That’s why the Russians try to show to the world what the US are really doing there and also get some legitimation from the UN and then, only then, you might even regret to have complained about the Russians doing nothing when they’ll start to do something because they’ll be left with no other choice… Armageddon day!

Every single time, bar none, when there’s a so-called ceasefire, Syria and other countries get whacked by the invaders. When are the Russians gonna learn? I gave them more credit than this since the start of the Russian intervention. Putin and Lavrov are not as smart as they first appeared to be. I don’t believe for a moment that this conflict could not have been settled by now. Someone is deliberately dragging their feet.

Meanwhile, there is news of a group of US Special Forces entering Syria through Turkey (which means with Erdogan’s assent) to set up yet another illegal military base at Tell Abyad, a Kurdish-held region north of Raqqa. The base, sporting a raised American flag, is already heavily fortified with heavy weapons and is being provided the latest in communications equipment. Conclusion. It is likely to become permanent. Russia appears to be impotent in stopping an obvious US attempt to militarily shear off and occupy parts of Syria.

So true. And prevent the next 80 men being murdered. Lavrof must stop speaking to the Kerry snake.
