[Editor’s note: The Middle East has been artificially divided since 1919, when the British and French, who had just come out of WW1 on the winning side and carved up the Ottoman Empire into spheres of influence that later became the nations of Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the lesser gulf states. Britain chose the families that were to become the ruling dynasties of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq and the gulf states based on the wartime alliances they had formed with various Arab tribes after fomenting the 1915 Arab Revolt as a means to the end of destroying the Ottoman Empire. The legacy of this outside interference is still written large across the social, political and economic life of the Middle East today.

After having created several Arab states out of the wreckage of the Ottoman Empire, Britain was concerned with issues of pan-Arabism and pan-Islamism, both of which were factors that could draw together the hithertofore divided and often warring Arab tribes into one large and powerful Arab entity that shared a common religion, spoke a common language and possessed the means to resist the will of the British and other Western powers.

One of the means to divide the Arab peoples, to sow division and prevent a large and powerful Arab superstate from forming was to foment religious discord. This was done by exploiting the Shia-Sunni issue, which, while it existed prior to Western interference, was barely a problem; far less of an issue than the Protestant vs Catholic divide in Christianity.

President Rouhani of Iran is absolutely correct – the Shia-Sunni issue is the work of the West, a way to keep the Arab peoples divided; furthermore he is also correct when he points out that this is a Zionist agenda – Britain being a Zionist controlled country, as is the US today. Ian]

Iranian president: Both Shia Crescent, Sunni Triangle false; Shia-Sunnis are brothers

Calling on all Muslims to exercise brotherhood and unity by resorting to Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) teachings, President Rouhani said: “Attracting the Muslim youths to false beliefs is the biggest conspiracy”.

Speaking at 30th Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, Dr Rouhani added: “Both Shia Crescent and Sunni Triangle are false; Shias and Sunnis are brothers and follow Islam and Prophet Muhammad’s way of thinking”.

The goal of the enemies is to promote despair and kill opportunities of the Islamic societies, said Rouhani adding: “The goal of the Zionist Regime and those who shed blood in the region is killing Muslim youths’ hope but they themselves will soon be struggling with despair”.

He continued: “Fallujah and Aleppo have been liberated and, in near future, the entire Iraqi and Syrian soil will be liberated”.

If the major world powers and some dictating and dependent governments think that they can advance their goals by using terrorist groups, they are in a big mistake, he said.

Rouhani added: “We will bring back the days of brotherhood among all Islamic countries and mass unity against the Zionist Regime”.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also went on saying: “Being a united society means relying on God, instead of the U.S and the U.K.”.

He also stated: “Today, the big responsibility of giving awareness to people is on distinguished Muslim figures’ shoulders”.

The Prophet advised Muslims to be united and live peacefully alongside other religions, said the President adding: “The late Imam [Khomeini] used to say that it is American Islam that is standing against Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) pure Islam”.

“Shia and Sunni have maintained their independence through unity against colonialism and division,” he said.

Referring to the true Islamic principles, he continued: “We are proud of a Jihad which is based on Quran’s logic”.

Rouhani also posed the question: “Is it even possible to shed blood and kill innocent people and, at the same time, claim to be a follower of Prophet of Islam?” adding: “We recognise only a Jihad which means defence, resisting against tyranny and defending Islam and Muslims’ esteem”.

Attracting the Muslim youths to false beliefs is the biggest conspiracy, he said adding: “Is there any catastrophe bigger than that some Muslims are holding a grudge against each other instead of the aggressor Zionist Regime?”

At the beginning of his speech, Dr Rouhani congratulated Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday and said: “Without a doubt, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the most influential man in human history”.

‘Prophet was the messenger of monotheism, morality and disposing of idols and arrogance”, continued the President adding: “Monotheism means unity in the society under the flag of ‘There is no god except Allah’”.

Stating that Islam completes its preceding religions, Dr Rouhani said: “Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us the lesson of respecting all Abrahamic religions”.

Islam has ordered us to be united with all monotheistic religions, said Rouhani. He went on saying: “Violence is against Islam; be it from the side of any religion or ethnicity”.

  1. If Plato, Ibn Sina and Ibn Rushd only knew that one day there will be a country called Britain that will hijack their works and ideas and transform them into a centennial ravaging heist..

  2. Has anyone ever considered that the concept of “Arab World” in itself suits the purposes of the Zionists? It juxtaposes a huge Arab World against a tiny Israel – portraying them as underdogs? In reality there is no such thing. There is the Imazigha, another name for the Berber nations – albeit Arabicized – in North Africa. Then there is Greater Syria, with Kurds, Assyrians and Arabicised Kurd/Assyrian/Armenian (due to Islamicizing). Even the ancient Arab heartland of the Yemen has sizable populations of Himyari & Mehri peoples. None of whom are Arab, but are wrongly classed as such. Pretty much like calling Scots, Welsh & Cornish as English; or Breton as French. Egyptians do have an Arab population, though their blood-lines are heavily mingled withn those of all the previous peoples.

  3. Concurrently, Stalin and Russia, even today, fears Pan-Turanianism. As they do Pan-Finno-Ugrism. Read up on the Mari people – original inhabitants of Russia – and other related people who died by the 10s of 1000s as slaves, building St Petersburg.

  4. You are correct about the Shia-Sunni divide, as is President Rouhani. Unfortunately, the likes of Muqtada Al Sadr and the militias that committed genocide in Baghdad do not think in those terms.

  5. UK & France drew the borders of Mideast countries (including Israel) in order to foment future wars — always very profitable. Divide-&-Conquer, Divide-&-Rule at its best — or worst.

    • Precisely. Can’t allow the Arab world to unite, that would not suit the agenda of the West or it’s Zionist masters.
