James Clapper Calls Trump Speech ‘Downright Scary, Disturbing’

[Editor’s note: Clapper is quite correct, Trump is bereft of morals, ethics and intellect, I have been saying so since long before the election and finally senior US politicos are starting to wake up and realise just what a mess Trump has created and what a dangerous liability he is.

When men like Clapper speak out in such strong terms about the serving president, then the writing is surely on the wall and removal of said president looming large on the horizon.

Let us all hope Trump is removed before he can start a serious war. Ian]

James Clapper Calls Trump Speech ‘Downright Scary, Disturbing’

James Clapper, former director of National Intelligence, said Wednesday he questioned President Donald Trump’s fitness for office.

“I really question his ability to be — his fitness to be — in this office, and I also am beginning to wonder about his motivation for it,” Clapper told CNN’s Don Lemon on “CNN Tonight.”

Hours after Trump delivered a defiant speech in Phoenix, Arizona; Clapper said he found the President’s rally “downright scary and disturbing.”

Clapper denounced Trump’s “behavior and divisiveness and complete intellectual, moral and ethical void.”

“How much longer does the country have to, to borrow a phrase, endure this nightmare?”

“He should have quit while he was ahead after last night,” Clapper referring to Trump’s announcement on US strategy in Afghanistan. “Again, I think the real Trump came through.”

Clapper also said he is worried about the President’s access to the nuclear codes.

“In a fit of pique he decides to do something about Kim Jong Un, there’s actually very little to stop him,” Clapper said. “The whole system is built to ensure rapid response if necessary. So there’s very little in the way of controls over exercising a nuclear option, which is pretty damn scary.”

At least Clapper got something right for a change. James Clapper’s history of dishonesty throughout his tenure in Washington is long and filled with acrimony. Gordon’s analysis of Clapper made last year for Press TV and you can look it up, dated Oct.26, 2016 describes Clapper to a tee: http://www.veteranstoday.com/2016/10/26/press-tv-gordon-duff-on-clinton-clapper-and-the-culture-of-unreality-in-us-intelligence/
However Clapper’s comments concerning Trump’s push to send 4,000 troops, that it if you can believe it will only be 4,000 Americans, into Afghanistan as “scary and disturbing” do make a point. Trump is being reckless and foolish. Furthermore his promise to refrain from involving America further into the middle east now ring hollow to his supporters and those who continue to support this buffoon are typically neo-Nazis,white supremacists and of course, poorly informed.

What an obvious political hit piece!

Please note that neither Lemon nor Clapper made any references to anything that Trump actually said, at the Arizona rally. (That criticism also applies to all of the people who have thus far posted comments here.)

Had this been honest journalism, Clapper would have said, “Trump stated , and I found that disturbing because of . Clapper would have cited specific examples, and he didn’t.

One need not be a Trump supporter (and, btw, I’m not) to realize that CNN sucks!

To judge for yourself, see “Clapper’s Full [CNN/Lemon] Interview on Trump’s Rally” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B47d-LrjKA. I suggest that VT add this video above.

For many reasons, I don’t like/trust Clapper or CNN. CNN is ‘See No News’ — not necessarily fake news, just incomplete & omissions-full to the point of non-existence. Clapper is a ‘Stove-Piper’ & a liar. If you do the research, you too will see what I mean. Clapper was an Obama guy — not necessarily a good thing.

However, when Trump’s own mil/intel guys regularly say that Trump is full of shit, what Clapper says takes on additional significance. Most Trump mil/intel guys know & like Clapper — and talk to him… 😉

James Clapper was working at the Pentagon during 9/11 heading up Geo Spatial Command. Clapper would have been at the dashboard when whatever came in and hit the Pentagon as Cheney allowed the stand down to take place (Sec. Norman Minetta testimony)
Clapper along with the rest of the Military that failed to get up one aircraft or one shot off and allowed their own Headquarters to take a hit, which left our cities wide open to further attacks, was then PROMOTED to head up ALL 16 of the U.S.Intelligence Agencies? Right…
Somebody should be looking in his underwear drawer for the 82 Pentagon video cameras that went missing after 9/11 and the rest of the Geo Spatial forensic imaging that would crack 9/11 wide open.
Clapper on Trump’s fitness? This is a sick joke.

Regardless of Clapper’s background, what he says about Trump is accurate and valid.

PAUL LEO FASO: Clapper is NOT a good guy (IMHO). However, as said above, “when Trump’s own mil/intel guys regularly say that Trump is full of shit, what Clapper says takes on additional significance. Most Trump mil/intel guys know & like Clapper — and talk to him…”

If you want to hold your breath, waiting for Trump to do the right thing on 9/11, Federal Reserve, Syria, Russia & Bibi/Rotten-Child, then please continue to do so. But for most, that ship has sailed — and sunk.

I want to believe. Butt Trump is not helping. Trump does nothing — except for himself & his family, certainly nothing for America & Americans.

If you want to say or imply that Trump’s Phoenix speech was good, I agree with you! Trump gave the best demagogic speech since Hitler — in his Bier Hall Putsch speech.

P.S. BTW, the hyperlink that is your name is dead (i.e., “DNS address could not be found”). Just like your hyperlink (and Yahweh too, maybe), Trump is also dead — politically. Trump is now trashing McConnell & other Republithugs (Dummycrooks too, of course), whom Trump needs to pass legislation and to save Trump’s ass from Impeachment & Removal.

After Trump, we live in a post-fact world, where facts don’t matter (at least, not to Trump & his ‘base’). Soon, we may also live in a post-Trump world, where Trump & the ‘Clappers’ of the world don’t matter… ;-).

While Clappers words may resonate in this case, let’s be wary that it does not pursue the example as an excuse for increased military or intelligence agency, control over , the “rapid response” controls, in the future and instead pursue a comprehensive civilian control over the rapid response that requires more than just the President, or Generals and ensure the intelligence channels are routed through a solidified civilian based oversight group. The tech is better, and so should be the system.

Clapper held office from 1992. Notwhistanding his proper remarks, he enjoyed every minute of Afghanistan occupation, Syria’s demolishing, Lybia’s fueled civil war, Yemen genocide and kept silent
about every WH decision. Trump its just following the same dictates that he followed in his tenure, all coming from the behind the scenes both parties singlehanded despotic network. Snugged and glued to his chair, he also kept quiet about the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) operating like in the Soviet times NKVD, much responsible for Israel’s US Police Chieffs indoctrination and consequently, for present day duress against civilians. As a venerable Mason should, he played a role in the US PNAC pretense in appointing Israel to the globalist Throne, implementing Agenda 21 and all quiet about 9/11 respnsibles. Perhaps his only and commendable job was for other reasons, firing Petraeus.

Ian, Clapper was talking to CNN’s Don Lemon. I don’t know Clapper or Trump. But it’s Don Lemon who I observed to be a moral degenerate, over and over here in Ferguson, MO. We saw a lot of him up close here in Ferguson, fanning the flames, literally. The Michael Brown thing was used by Obama admin to light fires in Ferguson, and they sent the media to make things worse, not better. Blacks as well as whites in Ferguson would be happy if they never saw that bastard Don Lemon ever again. He kept touting that poor unarmed Brown lie over and over, and excused every thing that the thugs did during the riots, mostly paid thugs from out of state. And it didn’t matter that the grand jury exonerated the cop. Media got what they wanted. Oh, and a few more people were killed during the riots and arson. So Obama admin and media have blood on their hands. So to hear that Clapper is talking to Lemon, what a joke, but a bad joke.

    • David Odell  August 23, 2017 at 12:06 pm

I’ll give you “fanning the flames”, but the fire was started by a systemic and rampant abuse by police who time and time again, have been caught on tape, using excessive force. Exoneration of officers certainly does not hold water as that also is, time, and time again, the accelerant that feeds that flame. The problem in Ferguson exposed a country wide systemic abuse of police actions designed to gather funding by way of targeting the poor and anybody can go to any county traffic court to see for themselves. Due to the exposure of Ferguson, there was a noticeable change in the aggressive tactics of policing nationwide, for the purpose of funding. It is”boots and fines” for the peasant class, and “courtesy extended” for the oligarchy and well connected. Exposure of that, is a good thing.

Doesn’t really matter who the interviewer was, it is what Clapper said that matters and he was accurate in his assessments of the dangers of having the buffoon in the White House any longer.

    • Dr. Abu-Bakr Susta  August 23, 2017 at 9:22 pm

JS, David & Ian: Of course, we all know that CNN & Clapper are not the good guys — of which there are few, none 100% (even at VT). But only KKK & Nazis are 100% pro-Trump. Regardless, is Trump’s Good-People-on-Both Sides ship really the vessel on which we want to bet America?

If Congress tells Trump “You’re Fired,” then we can get on with the future of America. Not before.
