[ Editor’s Note: I must say, this caught me a bit by surprise, as Mr. Erdogan has a long history of playing both sides against the middle. This is quite a shift from the days when Turkey was allowing the Israeli Air Force to do practice bombing runs, coming in under radar, for potential attacks on Iran to bomb its non-existent nuclear weapons facilities.
VT exposed that hoax early on, thanks to the briefings we got from our nuclear expert Clinton Bastin, but our warnings were ignored by the “Fake Media” that played a key role in peddling the fraud with no evidence. And even though Israel desperately wanted to kill the Iran nuclear agreement, it never revealed the proof it had claimed to hold, that Iran had a secret nuke program. The same can be said for the hawks in the US government.
We must look at Erdogan’s new announcement to cooperate more with Russia, Iran, Iraq, and now Syria on security issues. He can see that his trying to exploit the Syrian situation has backfired, with a possible Kurdish State being declared on his southern border.
Netanyahu’s “the sky is falling” hysterics with Putin in Moscow over the huge threat that Iran represents to Israel, due to what we see is going to be a continuing security relationship between the two, were ignored by the Kremlin. The Russian Air Force will remain in Syria for at least 75 years. Bibi’s old game of crying wolf, when Israel has always had both nuclear and conventional military superiority in the region, is publicly exposed.
Syria obviously has a right to defend itself from Israel’s preemptive air strikes, which again prove who the aggressive threat is. It is a no-brainer that Syria will never have any security while Israel claims the right to bomb it at any time it chooses.
Russia has announced its having integrated the Syrian and Russian air defenses. This means an attack on the Syrian air defenses will be an attack on the Russians. Previously, the Russians had stated that their air defenses were only for protecting its bases and Russian ground forces in the anti-terrorism fight, leaving Israel free to bomb Assad at will.
This major shift was treated with only a slight mention in international media, but we spotted it right away at VT. The bottom line is that certain countries, like the US and Israel, have claimed that anyone having a strong air defense could be judged to be a threat, hence triggering a preemptive strike to remove it.
Cross your fingers that this wanton aggression theme will now get the spotlight and contempt that it deserves. By my book, any country with a rogue, preemptive strike doctrine should be kicked out of the UN within 24 hours, as an admitted threat to everyone else. But this will never happen in the land of sleeping Americans, who would much rather focus on taking down historical-monument threats, while Rome burns. You just can’t make their childish silliness up… JD ]

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Israel must stop its occupation of Palestinian territories, which he says undermines the so-called two-state solution to the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Erdogan made the remarks during a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ankara on Monday.
The Turkish president described the two-state solution as the “historical responsibility of the international community to the Palestinian people.” He further expressed Ankara’s readiness to support the efforts aimed at reviving the so-called peace process, stressing, “The key to success here is protecting the rights of the Palestinians.”
The last round of Israeli-Palestinian talks collapsed in 2014. Among the major sticking points in those negotiations was Israel’s continued settlement expansion on Palestinian territories. More recently, Israel has further compounded the situation by building settlements deeper in territory that the Palestinians want as a future state.
Erdogan said Turkey believed that the path to permanent peace was the realization of a sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. Touching on the tensions between Israelis and Palestinians at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in July, he said that “there is no benefit to anyone in increasing tension.”
Abbas, for his part, reiterated the Palestinians’ right to “live with dignity and sovereignty in an independent state with East Jerusalem [al-Quds] as its capital.”
He also thanked Erdogan and the Turkish nation for their firm “stance against the Israeli measures in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and their provocations of Muslims.”
‘Israel won’t retreat on settlements’
Meanwhile, on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that none of the settlements built in the occupied West Bank would be evacuated.
“We are here to stay forever. There will be no more uprooting of settlements,” he said in the West Bank settlement of Barkan while addressing an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territory.
The development came a few days after a US delegation visited the occupied lands in a bid to get the Israelis and the Palestinians back to the negotiating table.
Nabil Shaath, Abbas’ foreign affairs advisor, said the Americans had asked for a three-to-four-month “grace period” in order to prepare and present a so-called peace plan.
About 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 settlements built illegally since the 1967 occupation of the Palestinian territories.
In recent months, Tel Aviv has stepped up its settlement construction activities in the occupied Palestinian territories in a blatant violation of international law and in defiance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334.
