International Criminal Court to investigate CIA black sites in Afghanistan

The chief investigator of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda, has asked for judicial permission to launch an investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity in Afghanistan, the ICC said.

According to an ICC statement, the investigation will look into crimes allegedly committed in Afghanistan since May 1, 2003, as well as any crimes linked the conflict that took place outside it since July 1, 2002. The parties under investigation will be the Taliban and another powerful Islamist group, the Haqqani Network, both of which also operate in Pakistan, as well as the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), in particular, members of the National Directorate for Security (NDS) and the Afghan National Police (ANP).

“The situation in Afghanistan has been under preliminary examination by the Office of the Prosecutor since 2006,” the statement said. “After a comprehensive and careful scrutiny of the information available to the office, applying the applicable Rome Statute legal criteria, the prosecutor has determined that there is a reasonable basis to proceed with an investigation of the situation in Afghanistan.”

The investigation will also examine war crimes and human rights violations committed by the United States and its allies, with an additional focus on the Central Intelligence Agency and its role in operating secret detention facilities, so-called “black sites,” on the territory of Afghanistan and other allied countries.

These black sites were used by the CIA to hold and question suspected terrorists after September 11, often making use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” which has been criticized as being a euphemism for torture.

Among the techniques used was waterboarding, where a cloth is placed over the prisoner’s face and water is poured on top, creating the feeling of drowning. Other enhanced interrogation techniques included stress positions, sleep deprivation and humiliation.

The CIA’s black sites were in Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Thailand and Afghanistan. The agency’s current deputy director, Gina Haspel, ran such a facility in Thailand nicknamed the “Cat’s Eye,” and later reportedly participated in the destruction of interrogation videotapes that showed the torture of detainees at the prison she ran, as well as at other secret compounds.

The ICC has been criticized for what’s perceived to be huge overspending and poor efficiency. Despite having an annual operating budget of €145 million ($170 million), the court has only managed to score four convictions, all of them African war criminals, leading to complaints of an anti-African bias. It has also issued arrest warrants for other suspects, including Joseph Kony of the Lord’s Liberation Army, a Christian terrorist group in Uganda, but they have yet to appear in court to face justice. The court has no jurisdiction over the US, since Washington backed out of ratifying the Rome Statute in 2002. Russia cut its ties with the ICC last year following a decree by President Vladimir Putin.

  1. Lucky thing no one pays attention to the International Court of Criminals. 145 million Euros per annum. That’s a lot of cheese. Wonder how they dispense the loot? I want some, can I get some .. please? Who do you have to know to get in that club? Do I have to pledge?

  2. As if the ICC isn’t silently controlled by the same entities that control the CIA. This is all just theatre. As usual.

Until we see actions focused DIRECTLY on the international criminal syndicate that is actually responsible for all this malevolence and subterfuge (read: those running it), then there is nothing to see. That syndicate is headquartered in Tel Aviv and the C.O.L.. The head of the snake *must* be removed. There is little time.

  3. Before the black sites in Afghanistan, there was . . . LAOS.

Laos was the “treading water” operation for all U.S. military operations in Vietnam. EVERYTHING that was going on in Vietnam was cointelpro of the CIA, because they were working both ends against the middle.

In a glimmer of hope. Two words: Church Commission

Back in the day, men in the United States of America seemed to possess the cajones God gave them. Both Republicans and Democrats on the commission worked together to expose the Crimes ‘R US sindicate.

“Daniel Ellsberg quoted Church as speaking of the NSA as follows: “I know the capacity that is there to make tyranny total in America, and we must see to it that this agency and all agencies that possess this technology operate within the law and under proper supervision, so that we never cross over that abyss. That is the abyss from which there is no return.”

    ————–> We are in the abyss . . . wrapped in a swamp . . . surrounded by tyranny <————-

The Church Commission was concerned about the CIA opening other peoples' mail, and tapping their phone. LMGAO – that ain't shlt now. Try gang stalking . . . touch-less torture . . . microwave chip technology . . . RF scanning technology . . . infrared heat sensors . . . directed-energy weapons . . . GPS . . . Pokemon Go with human "ghosts" . . . Uber car technology tracking your every move.

Elevating "nosy neighbors" to the Nth degree. They have "stalker ware" parties now. Multi-level marketing, recruit perps to track targeted individuals and "test" the technology. Down to the street level . . . they watch and follow. These idiots don't know when freedom is lost . . . they helped LOSE IT! They have no idea what tyranny means, or a totalitarianism form of government. Screw the black sites in Afghanistan . . . how about the black sites in your own neighborhoods!

On August 17, 1975 Senator Frank Church appeared on NBC's Meet the Press, and discussed the NSA . . . :

“ In the need to develop a capacity to know what potential enemies are doing, the United States government has perfected a technological capability that enables us to monitor the messages that go through the air. (…) Now, that is necessary and important to the United States as we look abroad at enemies or potential enemies. We must know, at the same time, that capability at any time could be turned around on the American people, and no American would have any privacy left: such is the capability to monitor everything—telephone conversations, telegrams, it doesn't matter. There would be no place to hide.
If this government ever became a tyranny, if a dictator ever took charge in this country, the technological capacity that the intelligence community has given the government could enable it to impose total tyranny, and there would be no way to fight back because the most careful effort to combine together in resistance to the government, no matter how privately it was done, is within the reach of the government to know. Such is the capability of this technology. (…)

I don't want to see this country ever go across the bridge. I know the capacity that is there to make tyranny total in America, and we must see to it that this agency and all agencies that possess this technology operate within the law and under proper supervision so that we never cross over that abyss. That is the abyss from which there is no return."

It's all ROUGE now. Private and haunting. It's AMWAY, TUPPERWARE and AVON . . . recruit your way to the top of MLM tracking.

  4. America has no credibility. Neither has it any moral arguments left. America is no longer the shining beacon of freedom, liberty or protection from tyranny. It has become the opposite: a near dictatorship. Congress, all of them corrupted and controlled pass laws that intentionally violate the Constitution and Bill of Rights and Trumps signs them into law.
Torture, murder, death and destruction are now America’s major exports. It is all that is left of America. Every where America goes in the world it corrupts and distorts societies. Its military creates prostitution in nations where there is very little. It is involved in drugs and the trafficking of heroin, cocaine and Meth. Its soldiers behave worse than the Romans, filled with a sense they can do as they please to local populations. America’s military is as immoral and in such ill repute as the rest of the government.
The rest of the world now recognizes America as being the greatest threat to world peace and safety by an overwhelming majority.
Those who continue to maintain America is a Christian nation are blind, deaf and dumb; ignorant, arrogant and lazy.

  5. ICC will do no such thing, despite the headlines and bluster. The USA & Israel are above all man-made laws. ALL. FACT. PERIOD. UNPROSECUTABLE. We are further ordered to recognize these – throw in Britain, France and the rest of the European tail-wagging trained hounds (NATO) – as God Almighty. Never-you-mind about any nonsense of their “criminality” Ha ha ha. What comedy is this! The mandated rationale is that if “God” does it, it can’t be wrong.

  6. and you know what happens if any American or Israeli is ever sued in The Haag and I am sure also in ICC ? The whole court system is rigged since we have seen them in Nuremberg Court.
