Kremlin does not share Erdogan’s stance on Israel

Russia’s position on Jerusalem and the Middle Eastern settlement is well known, Peskov added

MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. The Kremlin is aware of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s stance on Israel but does not share it, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

When commenting on Erdogan’s statement, in which he called Israel a terrorist state and suggested that East Jerusalem should be declared the capital of Palestine, Peskov said that “we know what the position of the Turkish president is.”

“We are aware of it but it is not in line with our position. Russia’s position on Jerusalem and the Middle Eastern settlement is well known,” he added.

At the same time, Peskov declined to answer the question as to how Erdogan’s view could affect efforts to resolve the Palestine-Israel conflict. “I have nothing more to say,” he noted.

  1. Putin’s close relationship with Netanyahu and affection, though somewhat masked, for Israel is well known. It has become Russia’s Achilles heel and threatens over time to undermine everything that has been accomplished in Syria and elsewhere. Too bad because Israel is, as was stated by Erdogan, a terrorist state and is already working, along with its partner the US, to undermine Russia’s “victory” in Syria. In one sense, both Putin and Trump share a common feature–they are both stooges for Israel and the Zionists. Putin is just more successful at manipulating the perception that Russia is netural when it comes to something like Paestinian independence or Syrian terroritorial sovereignty.
