The Russian Foreign Ministry has called on the global community to respect Syria’s sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the countries of the Middle East following the aerial attacks of Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) against targets in central Syria.

“Moscow is deeply concerned with the latest developments and attacks on Syria. The danger of the escalation of tensions within and around the de-escalation zones, which have become an important factor in reducing violence in Syria, is of particular concern,” the Foreign Ministry stated on its website.

The statement notes that the Syrian government forces “are complying with the existing arrangements to provide the consistent functioning of the de-escalation zone in the south-west of the country.”

“We urge all the involved parties to exercise restraint and avoid any steps that could lead to the aggravation of the situation. We consider it necessary to unconditionally respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and other countries of the region.”

The ministry also noted that the creation of threats in Syria, where the Russian military contingent is present, is unacceptable.

Israel: Iran & Syria Are ‘Playing With Fire’

On Saturday, the IDF said eights Israeli fighter jets had hit 12 targets in Syria, including three air-defense squadrons and four Iranian military objects deployed in the country. On its way back home, jets came under the Syrian anti-aircraft fire and one of the Israeli F-16s crashed. Both pilots ejected and sustained injuries. It is still unknown whether the plane was actually hit by fire.

The air attack came after the IDF said their helicopter had downed an Iranian drone that crossed into the airspace of the disputed Golan Heights overnight on Saturday. The helicopter then crossed into Syrian territory to destroy the command post that was used to control the drone, according to the IDF. The chopper was met with Syrian artillery fire.

Commenting on the Israeli attacks, IDF spokesman Jonathan Conricus said that Syrians and Iranians were “playing with fire” as in his words, Damascus allowed Tehran to carry out an attack through its territory. He also said that anyone attacking Israel will “pay the high price,” but added that Tel Aviv was not looking for escalation in the region.

Syria: More Than One Israeli Jet Hit

Syrian news agency SANA, citing a military source, reported that Israeli aircraft had attacked military targets of the Syrian army in the central part of the country.

The Syrian Defense Ministry has stated its air defenses responded to the aerial attacks successfully and struck more than one plane.

“The Israeli enemy has once again attacked some of our military bases in the southern area and our air defenses responded and foiled the aggression,” the statement on the ministry’s website reads.

Syrian state TV reported that a girl was injured when Israeli missiles struck near a school in a neighborhood in the Damascus countryside.

At the same time, the military denied that its drone had violated Iraeli airspace, saying it was on an ordinary mission.

Iran: Claims of Downed Drone ‘Ridiculous’

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi lambasted the claims about the downed drone, denying the country’s military presense in Syria.

“Reports of downing an Iranian drone flying over Israel and also Iran’s involvement in attacking an Israeli jet are so ridiculous… Iran only provides military advice to Syria,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi was quoted as saying.

  1. Netanyahu and comrades have qualified the “israeli-occupied-territory” of Palestine for a harsh response.
The specially-equipped Apache helicopters and specially equipped F-16s readily identify the “sugar daddy” of the occupied territory´s air force. Similarly, while the German-manufactured subs of Germany are all “RED-Xed”, specially-equipped, German-made subs of the “israeli-occupied-territory” of Palestine are maintained in functional status, identifying the “sugar daddy” of their underwater forces. One wonders if the subversive support of “israeli terrorism” can be interrupted ?

  2. Drudge is a funnel or net for capturing the feeble minded and channeling them into Demagoguery.
He maintains connections by feeding links that lead to subscriptions , the primary source of income for the propaganda tools. The fear is sprinkled in liberally and consistently. The patterns are quite noticeable.
If Trump does something positive for the common person or common decency, then he gets credit.
I haven’t seen anything as of yet, but what I do see is the typical handling of sub-contractors by builders deployed in the political arena. The hope that someday they will be payed in full , is always near, but never comes. It’s always one more thing…. soon … any day now… like waiting for the messiah. Are you watching his cabinet ?

  3. It does give me an idea. From now on we will not say, the Canadien Falls, or the Horseshoe Falls,
Let’s instead call it, The disputed Falls Territory.

  4. All of this over at best a surveillance drone?

The best strategy for Israel is to negotiated a long term peace treaty with Syria. Go ahead and build the pipeline through Syria but pay Assad a royalty stream percentage so that he can rebuild his nation. Do not just destroy and balkanize Syria so that a pipeline can be built for free. You need to pay the Syria people for the right to use their own land!!

  5. Expect Israel to produce photos of the Iranian drone that they claim their Apache shot down which apparently started this lot off, shortly. Nothing like a bit of proof.

    Or am I being optimistic?

  6. The Russians are likely to do little more than complain. Sigh! This Israeli escalation was entirely predictable. However, Russia has done nothing to enhance Syrian air defenses, though they have, no doubt, anticipated new Israeli attacks such as this one. Could the reason be that Putin has already written off Syria as an unacceptable geopolitical risk?

  7. Laissez le “Bomb” Temps Roullez

VT has the US using a MANPAD to down a Russian fighter jet and now Israel on a rather shyster pretext launches the biggest attack on Syria since the 1982 “War” by way of an iddy-biddy drone carrying no doubt an Iranian nuclear pay-load. Israel’s greatest threat of implosion is to assume Russia has connived on a carte-blanche to attack Syria and by extension Iran. Bibi and Trump are low in the polls despite what the lying and craven MSM states. Hardly surprising then what with Mardi Gras time in New Orleans only 72 hours away, Zionist war hawks will be inclined to hum ‘Laissez le ‘Bomb’ temps roullez!’ Drifting in and out in the background a song by the Drifters begins to fill the Russia Command Headquarters, you know, the one with the line

“But don’t forget who is taking you home and in whose ‘arms’ you are gonna be …

9 Below Zero by the Nighthawks has a rather pulsating hum too like a pre-dawn Prairie wind that chills to the bone.

    • Word on the grapevine – top class Bordeaux stuff, that Netanyahu is set to resign Monday and obviously wanted to go out with a fanfare departure while venting his ire hysterically from a mere bitch-slap. Who else would launch a squadron of F-16 in retaliation for a Syrian ‘drone’ incursion in Syrian territory and blame … who else but far off Iran. Nothing else becomes a whiner who drones on and on and on about Iran than to have a quiet departure into an even quieter prison cell accompanied ‘by nice young men in clean white coats coming to take him away’ … Moanday … sorry, Monday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alssten8OvE

  8. Where’s the threat? Syria us now under open attack as their proxies failed. Israel wouldn’t have to worry, just leave the Golan Heights.
