  1. The incessant haranguing of Free masonry, is not perhaps indicative of an opposition to theology on behalf of masons, but rather an old threat. That is stone masonry is a trade, and as such it formed units of advancement within the trade that still exist today in all trades. Certainly we can look to the bridge in Miami as an example of why this is important and much more critical to the building industry than college degrees of which dozens were involved in the construction of that bridge. So, primarily, masonry provides a rigorous requirement for builders to be advanced to a level capable of a task so as to prevent tragedy and bad building practices. It did not allow talk of religion or politics, because that is a distraction and crews do not have the luxury of choosing capability based on beliefs, but demonstration of ability.

    • So the threat comes from the “secret” part. The same word is used for trades of skill, and trades of goods. That is the connection. The trading of building materials and supplies, was simultaneous with other knowledge, and certainly text was among them, along with the interpreters and priests who wished to accompany tradesman to other ports. So, certain things learned by tradesman were a threat to a group that sought to apprehend or confiscate knowledge and claim copyright. But this secret was safe with masons because they did not allow or tolerate this type of talk. Trade secrets were valuable trade items. We will show you this, if you give us that. Cedar to Egypt certainly among them.

    • The thing is, masons are not the only ones to know where a text comes from, due to modern access to the ancient texts. It is like finding a stone of granite , in a wall made from limestone. The 36 decans and 20 days glare from the pages of the book, and give away the easy answer as to what the text is based on, and it is not history, but calendars. It is amazing and beyond imagination how the church has avoided this unpleasant truth for so long.
