Should VA Supply Medical Marijuana to Veterans?

Allana Harkin recruits the #ReeferSanity army to find out what the heck is wrong with Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his war on America! Produced by Halcyon Person with Adam Howard. Edited by Jesse Coane for Full Frontal with host Samantha Bee (TBS).

Some advocates say;

The absolute last thing that Big Pharma wants is cannabis being removed from Schedule One status. They’d lose sooo much money because of that, hence why they pay off those in political office. Gotta keep people popping pills to get that money. And the VA is just as bad. I’m a medically retired veteran who’d like to try cannabis for my neuropathic pain but I cannot because I have random urinalysis tests because the VA gives me oxycodone, a powerful opioid painkiller. Sad thing is that high-powered stuff rarely ever works for me. Living in Texas is also a bummer in this instance because it’ll be one of the last states to de-criminalize it.

What do you think?

Should VA supply our Vets?

  1. the problem is not only the (likely) potential for GMO-related invasion of the industry, it’s the patent for its development, granted to HHS in 2003 (#6,630,507), which expires next April, 2019. As anyone knows, once a patent is granted, the patent-holder can outlaw or undermine any prospective patent using the same plant, from further development–as an infringement against the original patent and its protected processes.

    Eventually, likely starting in December, 2018, you’ll start to see corporate takeover of the plant’s functions and developments, and (once again) it will be illegal to “grow your own.”

    Dontcha just love America?

  2. There are some things in life that do not require permission. It is one of the most useful plants on earth.

  3. Yes, the VA should allow and prescribe medical marijuana (more specifically, CBD oil) for several reasons:

    1) it cures or helps alleviate much pain and disease;
    2) it was the original curative, non-gateway drug for cancer and pain therapies before 1920, when Big Pharma took over, especially since 1970 when Nixon/Mitchell outlawed it to crush antiwar leftists;
    3) Over 20-25 states approve it with prescription; (I guess the VA in those states will have to choose?)
    4) FDA is in the middle: Class 1 substance, yet federal govt. owns the patent on it (DEA)?
    5) saves taxpayer $$millions with reduced or eliminated veterans’ cancer & heart treatment especially;
    6) NOT a “gateway” drug leading to other Class 1 substances, like (gosh) oxycodone et al = HUGE payments to Big Pharma and addictiveness to patients/abusers alike;
    7) current science endorses its usage, where there was no science c. 1950-1980 (ie, around Nixon’s time)
