Washington (CNN) The Justice Department announced indictments in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election against 12 Russian nationals and accused of them of engaging in a “sustained effort to hack into the computer networks” of the DCCC, the DNC and “the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton and release that information on the internet under the names DCLeaks and Guccifer 2.0 and through another entity.”

The indictment, please read it:

All 12 defendants are members of the GRU, a Russian federation intelligence agency within the main intelligence directorate of the Russian military, who were acting in “their official capacities.”
The indictment was announced at almost exactly the moment that Trump rolled into the quadrangle of Windsor Castle to meet the awaiting Queen Elizabeth II in the symbolic highpoint of his visit to Britain. It also emerged two days before Trump is due to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin — who has denied election meddling — in Helsinki for a summit that includes a one-on-one meeting with only interpreters present.
The other “lock her up” chanter in his new green outfit
The unfolding drama on both sides of the Atlantic reflected how Trump’s presidency has been overshadowed by the Mueller probe from its earliest moments and how the investigation frequently tramples the President’s attempts to carve out favorable headlines.
Prosecutors from Mueller’s office and the Justice Department’s National Security Division visited the courtroom of a federal magistrate judge in Washington at 11:30 a.m. ET to return the grand jury indictment, according to an itinerary posted outside the courtroom.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced Friday that a federal grand jury, as part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, has indicted 12 Russian nationals accused of hacking the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign.

The 12 defendants named in the indictment are members of the Russian intel agency, the GRU, according to a Justice Department press release about the indictment.

The indictment includes 11 criminal counts and one forfeiture allegation. The criminal counts include conspiracy against the United states, identity theft and money laundering.

The hackers, the DOJ said in its press release, released the hacked information “on the internet under the names DCLeaks and Guccifer 2.0 and through another entity.”

The GRU officials, according to the DOJ, coordinated to “plan the release of the stolen documents for the purpose of interfering with the 2016 presidential election.”

A group of the GRU agents, according to the DOJ, “also conspired to hack into the computers of state boards of elections, secretaries of state, and US companies that supplied software and other technology related to the administration of elections to steal voter data stored on those computers.”

  1. There is of course a view from Moscow on this, the link is to the Aussie journo John Helmer who is pretty good. He makes a variety of valid points, it is a long analysis and this is cut from the end of it. Interested to get comments if it looks a valid comment.

“Mueller reports at Paragraph 31 that “during the hacking of the DCCC [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee] and DNC [Democratic National Committee] networks, the Conspirators covered their tracks by intentionally deleting logs and computer files.” Altogether, the indictment identifies four separate efforts at deletion of computer logs by the Russian agents — May 13, June 1, June 20, and a date in August. This appears to be a highly sensitive disclosure that US intelligence has the technical capability to defeat Russian methods of computer deletion, not only by detecting Russian deletion attempts when they happen, but by retrieving or reconstructing what the Russians think they have erased securely. This is an exceptional achievement in US cyber warfare to have slipped out of its TOP SECRET NOFORN classification; it may be a signal that US cyber agents can fabricate Russian tracks to deceive other US cyber agents; Mueller too.”

  2. With regards to the hacking of the DNC emails which is being blamed on the Russians, a technical analysis of the data in question showed an estimated transfer speed of 23 MB/s, indicating that the individual who copied the data which was later published by a persona named Guccifer 2, had direct physical access to the computer where the data was stored…or the data was copied over a high speed Local Area Network.

This technical analysis further confirmed the suspicions of many inside the US intel community, that the DNC emails were ‘leaked’ from the inside, not ‘hacked’ from the outside. Those with technical experience ranging from designing the world’s first security software for PC (John Mcafee); to those who wrote the code for the data mining programs used by the NSA to this day (William Binney); to Pulitzer Prize winning journalists (Seymour Hersh); to the man who wrote the book on counter-terrorism for the state department and served under five different presidential administrations (Steve Pieczenik); a multitude of experts with decades of technical experience knew from the beginning that the DNC emails were leaked from the inside, not hacked by any foreign nation state.

    • As for the indictments, all I see are a lot of elaborate accusations. Let’s not forget that Clay Shaw was indicted by District Attorney Jim Garrison in connection with the murder of JFK. https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP75-00149R000600150003-0.pdf

Laying charges is one thing, getting convictions is something else entirely…I still have not seen a clear motive as to why the Russian government would prefer Trump as president. He’s done them no favours. The only nation he’s done anything for is Israel.

  3. One of the best comments I’ve read on VT.
I remember Lee Wanta, vaguely. Good call back to bring back the point.
You are relying historical events which have, no question, been wicked. But, I feel what’s going on now is about a fake as Malania’s . . . nose, chin, cheekbones, boobs, etc.
Of course, these entire Russia thing, while it may be true that they did do the things they are accused of, but this is the front . . . they are the pawns. They were put on the chess board on the front line thinking they were relevant. OMIGOSH that’s hilarious. The real Boris Spasskys are those found in Israhell . . . the red herrings were tossed out and we’re on Russia’s trail . . . but the stank comes from Israhell.

  4. The lesson is,.. just because this plus this means this, does not mean this. Hence, just because Trumps election is fraudulent by way of some help by Russians who may or may not be under the direction of Putin, does not mean Cambridge Analytica is innocent, or that anyone who espouses the Trump election as fraudulent is a Hillary supporter. We are going to go deep, so that means we have to be unbiased, and understand, that Gowdy tried for 2.5 years and had no charges, but Mueller has many after 1 year. There are talkers and doers. Most are talkers. Evidence speaks for itself, so examine it. Most talkers do not have either the capacity or integrity to examine evidence. Understand, that Trump is an idiot, and this is complicated, but has lot’s of evidence. Britain is not off the hook. They have an ongoing spat with Russia.

    • To go even deeper, which is certainly ill advised by many, is to say, even if Putin directed the entire thing, it may or may not be a bad thing in the end. I would refer folks to the Correa interview with Abby Martin.
The deeper aspect of understanding is to understand the atmosphere of operations for those inside Washington. It is a no win. It is the situation when the chief comes and says, someone has to go to jail, who’s it going to be ? If a Baby Trump balloon can be flown above London, can a naked Angela Merkel balloon be flown above London ? It all comes down to opinion, and folks need to be active. This is how it works.
Memo to evangelicals: No, the prophecy is not true, and no you don’t win.

    • @O’Dell . . . if you’re referring to the Revelations “prophecy” it did occur. In 70 A.D. when Rome “sacked” them (and sacked is putting it mildly). The Book of Revelations was written after Jesus was murdered, and resurrected. He had left the building prior to that tome. And Romans took no prisoners. So the people left that were “Hebrew” were slaughtered. The ones that left, left, they were the “Christians” and other ORIGINAL inhabitants, Arabs, that later absorbed into Islam.
The prophecy was true, and it happened.
The evangelicals are waiting for an event that has already occurred. Weird.
And they are supporting a group of people that never stepped a camel toe in the Middle East claiming themselves to be “the chosen.”
Keep in mind, VT (Ian and Gordon) are working on the Sephardic banksters vs. the AskeNAZI hucksters.
      That should be VERY INTERESTING.
And maybe history will repeat and it will the 70 A.D. 2.0 soon.

    • Problem: Jesus is Horus, a calendrical archetype. Falcon decan. Revelations was inserted at the end, to elicit membership by way of fear. Fairly easy to prove. But, it is easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled. Christianity is a dangerous cult. And very beneficial for your obvious nemesis.

  5. Mr. Duff,

seriously you should do stand up comedy.

Course the pic of the guy in the prison uniform who used to chant “lock her up” was quite amusing.

Now the video of the General and the gentlemen shouting down the supporters of said general with “lock him up” and “put him in chains” was priceless….

Excellent theater as my beer was cold and my pop corn was loaded with butter…he he…

Duff hands down the best writer on the net…

  6. It’s all laid out in the doc Mr Duff posted if you care to read it or should I pull out quotes and post to amuse the trolls as our Johnz posted go back to britebart but I highly recommend Fox News for the trailer trash.

It’s spelled out how that Russian team did what they did and their ties to the military question is was it a rouge unit like what goes on in American military units?

Someone went to an awful lot of trouble to put tRump in!

This is going to get good but the trolls have to step up as they are a bit boring…

  7. I looked for the latest comments on this breaking news. Well, there is a lot on msnbc, but that is mostly about creating a massive public emotional storm, while fully trusting the integrity of the Mueller investigative effort. A more rational approach turned out to be more difficult to locate this early. But among early commentators Moon of Alabama was one :

No Evidence In Mueller’s Indictment Of 12 Russians – Release Now May Sabotage Upcoming Summit

where it quite correctly was pointed out that the Mueller team is not quite there yet, when it comes to presenting evidence. But this would fit very well with the thought that what matters most now is that the war must go on. Another place to look for early comments would be Zero Hedge.

  8. Seth Rich…Thumb drive…The Clinton Crime Family apparently is above the law.
Didn’t these documents prove the Liberals rigged their own primary?……….
    Lock Her Up!
Mueller hasn’t got squat on Trump, period. This is a witch hunt to cover up some serious spying.
Using the full force of the intelligence apparatus to sabotage your opponent is a crime.
Obama and his ilk are all cheap hoods, especially Fast and Furious Holder, for the death of Brian
Terry, who died exactly one year before Sandy Hook. Shot with weapons bought with stimulus money.
Gordon is so full of Shit, on just about everything.

  9. Next question: Do the indicted individuals share a Tribal background as well as Russian citizenship?

    • Yes, by all means Gordon must declare all those Russian paychecks.
      signed by Andrew.
I bet they’re better than the ones from Amway.
2 gigbytes for the price of one.
Speeding down the internet highway and ignoring the caution signs.
And….small change got rained on by his own .38

    • Here we go again. No proof, No reason, No motive – this time just some names?
Another Christofer Steele? How much ($$/ shekels) “the name supplier” got paid per name?
Well, the usual monthly Russophobia action – we’ve got to beat those UK’s Skripals affair.
Why GRU? They “do” military intelligence only – how about Lavrov’s SVR – crossed out wires?
Wonder, if the smart Romanian will sue Rosenstein for attaching his “Guccifer” invention to
Russian GRU? The most important on this umpteen accusation of R.F. is its timing! It had
to come up just before Putin & Trump meeting! Is Bibi- sorry, Rosenstein (his trooper), warning
both gentlemen not to agree on something harmful to Israel?? McCain, yes that ISIS helper,
had already spoken, telling Trump what to do now!
At the end, those who were in the know, already took a prompt action – Seth Rich committed
“suicide” (to the back of his head) – or was robbed (of nothing except his life) – but someone
utilized the occasion to blame Russians (who else)!

  10. POTEMKIN – that was the guy with the villages, right?
I also recall Roger Stone talking a lot about “Guccifer”.
(Goofy + Lucifer?) So maybe we should ask Roger Stone
what he thinks about this report (is it real?)

  11. mmmm. Wasnt it the Clintons that $old Uranium to the Russians ? Oh , but I forgot the Clintons are yes above the LAW ..

  12. Believe it when I see it. Right now, I can’t believe any of this. None. Not a bit of it. I’ll believe Rosenstein when donkeys fly.

  13. “A group of the GRU agents, according to the DOJ, “also conspired to hack into the computers of state boards of elections, secretaries of state, and US companies that supplied software and other technology related to the administration of elections to steal voter data stored on those computers.””

    Trolls are out.

    must have struck a nerve.

  14. Breaking! And today our British partners said, that they have found a bottle, that contained Novichok! The third part of a blockbaster. Was it a milk bottle? Or they gonna produce the 4th part: about the sophisticated revenge of Skripal’s cat named Murzik. Deeply conspired tail-agent of GRU. And this circus show we see from the ancestors of Arthur Conan Doil (sorry if not right)…. Seems, Boris decided to run from this boat of shame. And May will suffer great if Trump&Putin will have productive meeting.

    • I read that too! I call BS on that. Why would this guy have a bottle of Novichok in his possession for? A MI5/6 plant? A patsy used to try and lay the blame on Russia?…AGAIN! I’m really getting tired of this anti Russian narrative played out by the West just like you Andrew. So sick and tired from it all. SIGH!

    • Not even Monty Python could come up with something as crazy as this.
      ” If I told you once”…..

    • and how many Russians live in Israhell w dual citizenship ? Perhaps look for them not those in Mother Russia

  15. The DOJ did NOT say the election was rigged, to the contrary they said these “Russians” had NO EFFECT on the election. More “fake news” Mr. Duff?

    • They are NOT indicting these people under the premise of rigging the election.
      You are CORRECT!
They are not indicting anyone on that basis.
But since you seem to know so much about federal law, would you please let me know what legal cites they are relying? I bet you know, since you seem so smart.
      I’ll wait.

  16. A indictment it’s not a guilty verdict and looking at the ‘time to shed this to the press and given the complexity of this case and counting hidden foreing intereferences from joo 8200 the Mueller supposed evidence could be a complete fraud.

  17. When the smoke clears I’m looking forward to Gordons take on the election. How many players; what they tried to accomplish and the end results. I’ve always enjoyed the Duffsters ability to explain complex political situations. The truth will tell, eventually. We’ve already been que’d in to quite a bit with Google et. al. I’m sure this will be ongoing. Ad. Infinitum, Ad. Nauseam, they just will not quit.

  18. Did any of you read the doc Mr. Duff posted on scribed or are you Republican trolls as why not post somewhere else as I can show you multiple sites that post alt right BS funded by DeVoss and their elk as the alt right is them.

They fund the Christian wingnuts also who support tRump without question.

The DNC practiced poor computer security and should have known better as one never opens email and puts password information in to an unknown source.

The Russians took advantage of this.

My bet is nothing will happen to tRump and the idiots will tune in to Fox News for their fix.

    As the posters here demonstrate.

    • I seriously doubt the Russian hacking. Russian internet has nowhere the capability the U.S. besdies the speed of which the download was performed indicates the use ofa thumb drive.
And….all those hard drives that were deliberately destroyed.
      Huma Abedin and her brother…..

    • @JohnZ: i have a 100 mb/s inet channel at home, unlimited and it coasts $8.50 per month. And it is natural for us and get at table many years. Almost all cafe& restaraunts have free Wi-Fi. Internet in Russia is one of the fastest, cheap and widespread.

    • @JohnZ . . . you’re kidding right? Russian Internet has no where the capability of the U.S.?!?
And how does that logic equate to the price of tea in China?
So with your logic it could only mean one thing: They were here when they hacked.
      LMGAO.
      You funny!

    • That was the report by the independent investigators, so I was only repeating what they said.
      Obviously it was false.

    • I wish my internet service was only $8.50. Living up here in Northern Michigan has its advantages, buying internet service isn’t one of them. Charter is now owned by Spectrum …..another corporat monopoly. The only other service is Frontier which I use and it’s not that fast either since it’s over the telcom lines. Anyway it’s expensive what ever you choose.

    • @JohnZ: i read the story of one guy, he wrote that it was a shock for him, when he came to JFK airport and there where no free wi-fi. Because in Russia it is free in all airports, railway stations, the subway, cafes and it helps if you have no credits on cellular phone. Many positions he told Russia is far ahead than US. The lack of central heating, houses made of “paper and wood” with plastic siding, because strong brick houses are expensive (and in my country brick it is normal), etc. Well, both our countries are large, it depends on state and money. When my friend from USA saw a house of my friend in Armavir where i was in guests, he said this house costs around $300-500k in USA. But it was built for $40000, without any credits and loans.

    • A long-playing cassette (i remember ’em!) on this news. Like… Eh…
      – Hey! I thought that Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels are a husband and a wife. But now i know exactly that they are 4 different persons….

    • JohnZ, your heart beats faster when talk about Russian women : ). Real man! And we like brazilian girls, in Russia. They are considered to be most sportive and nice. Maybe, because they live in heat and have beachs, always half-naked.

    • Andrew, If I still had a wife. It would be more than a scandal……I would be missing something.
Yes Brazilian girls are quite attractive, especially when they dress for the beach. They know how to really heat up the summers .

  19. Should anybody believe anything Rosenstein says?
    Mueller is a Clinton crony.
It was several months ago when VT printed an article concerning the so called hacking, whereby an organization made up of former NSA, CIA and FBI people stated after their investigation that there was no Russian hacking and that it was impossible for the Russians to hack as their internet was not capable and in fact the “hacking” was actually made onto a thumb drive.
This entire drama from Mueller and Rosenstein is pure B.S.

    • John Z,
Rod Rosenstein? Zionist Talmudic lair?… Yes, why believe a Judith Zionist Israel nationalist? I wonder? Is Trumpty Dumpty a Christian crypto Jew? Well he surrounds himself with the Talmudic scourge of all things Israel like a complete moron??? or is the faith the reason he was able to get past the Bankruptcies of his former deal makings… Do they own him? my guess is, YES!

    • Yes, tRump is a crypto jue. Rosenstein is also one of the tribe.
Time for the FBI to become extinct.
No more Fox Mulder or Dana Scully.
      Only the smoking man.

    • Outerspace!!!?? Mulder was right. The aliens have taken over the world!
Seriously though, once all this clears, if it ever does as there is so much spin and counter disinfo being presented, it’s very difficult to figure out what really happened.
      It may take years.
One good example if the history of WWII and how the allied/victor side wrote its version of that war which has turned out to be utter rubbish.
