There are many people these days that have both landlines and mobile phones, which means greater convenience and ease as well as increased security while out and about. Sadly, it also means that there are more ways in which unsolicited callers can now get hold of you and hassle you.

Many people are fed up with the number of cold calls they receive from companies each day. The situation is made all the worse by the fact that many of these companies call over and over again.

If you find yourself receiving unsolicited calls from any companies, one thing you can do is tell them that you do not agree to them contacting you and ask them to remove your details from their database. This is something that they are now obliged to do under stricter regulations from the Federal Communications Commission.

However, what they are supposed to do and what they actually do are two very different things. Some companies will continue to make the calls to you even though you have expressly asked them not to, and this is where you need to take action.

What you need to do

If you are being bombarded with calls from companies even though you have told them not to contact you again, there is action that you can take. The first thing to do is make sure you use an online reverse phone number lookup to confirm the number of the company.

Some companies use a code so their number doesn’t show up or comes up as private but using these facilities will enable you to determine what the phone number is and who is calling. You will then be able to easily determine if it is the same company calling over and over again.

You then need to make sure you log down the date of time of the calls from their company along with how long they were on the phone, what was said, and any other important information.

This will give the FCC more to go on when investigating your complaint and it also means that they will be able to more easily penalize the company that has been harassing you.

Once you have sufficient details, you can contact the FCC online and complete a complaint form, which they agency can then use to investigate your complaint and the company in question.

Over the past couple of years, the FCC has brought in stringent new rules and regulations relating to unsolicited and robocalls because of the level of nuisance they cause to both individuals and to businesses.

As such, once they receive a complaint they are now able to investigate and take action. The more people that complain, the easier it will be to put an end to the misery of unsolicited calls, which can cause a lot of distress to some people.

In addition, it leaves many older people feeling troubled and insecure because they have no idea who is on the other end of the phone or what they want.
