US Defense Secretary James Mattis abruptly announced his resignation in protest against President Donald Trump’s decisions including pulling troops out of Syria and a drawdown in Afghanistan. With the ousting this month of John F. Kelly as White House chief of staff, James Mattis was the last of Mr. Trump’s old-guard national security team, leaving policy in the hands of Mike Pompeo and John Bolton.   1. Brilliant TV interview Mike, you were very clear, astute, articulate, concise and made a ton of excellent points. You would make a great Secretary of Defense. I hope someone close to Donald Trump follows you on Veterans Today and advises him to contact you for an interview.

  2. Both guys had a lot of good points. There is a palpable cohesion forming in the anti-war populace, that should be nurtured like a suckling. I’ll hold off on credit for Trump because we don’t know fully why he did it.
    The military veteran population in the US is decidedly anti-war by a huge percentage.
