New Mexico’s governor ordered the partial withdrawal of National Guard troops from the U.S. border with Mexico late Tuesday in a challenge to President Donald Trump’s assertion that there’s a security crisis in the region, the Associated Press reports. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced the decision just before Trump’s State of the Union address. “New Mexico will not take part in the president’s charade of border fear-mongering by misusing our diligent National Guard troops,” Grisham said in a statement.

“I recognize and appreciate the legitimate concerns of residents and officials in southwestern New Mexico, particularly Hidalgo County, who have asked for our assistance, as migrants and asylum-seekers continue to appear at their doorstep.”

The governor said about one dozen guardsmen will stay in the southwestern corner of the state to help with humanitarian needs. State police will also assist local law enforcement with these efforts, she said.

  1. I have to guess did she allow any of the States National Guard to head off to the middle east since 9-11 ?

  2. I haven’t heard of anyone mentioning the total irony of this wall thing. Like Jim Dean says, “you just can’t make this stuff up”.
Remember Ronny Raygun standing on his podium saying “Tear Down That Wall” now we have tRump™ saying “Build That Wall”. Huh???? Wall in Europe bad, wall in USA good.

Some cartoonist needs to capitalize on the idiocy of what people listen to and believe. It’s the same segment of the population who cheered on both C rate actors. That segment seems to gravitate to the bombastic bloviating bull shite artists.

  3. The wall is dead for many reasons. Not the least of which, is eminent domain along the Rio Grande , and the sheer stupidity of the entire fiasco.
Such a casual use of military should be viewed as incompetent, inappropriate, ineffective, wasteful, and childish. Strollers are not combatants.
