The empty teachings of Rudolf Steiner

The fact that Rudolf Steiner in his time contradicted the materialism that still wanted to explain the mind completely from the matter and the laws of nature, and emphasized the independent spiritual, was courageous.

In the meantime, science has proven to us that matter is neither particle nor wave, but only mathematics and probability, that is, pure spirit. It is also to be praised that Rudolf Steiner, unlike Blavatsky and her successor Annie Besant, has renounced as much jugglery and fraud as possible.

Rudolf Steiner with Annie Besant

He did not impress his followers in the costume of a high-grade Mason and did not derive his authority from the (lying) contact with Great Masters of the Hereafter and from the miraculously materialized writings of these Masters or even from their own supernatural abilities, his success was based on the fact that he was able to ostensibly expound the deepest secrets of man and nature, of heaven and hell, of Christianity and of the Egyptian mysteries or of medicine, of money and social problems in his lectures to meaningful citizens at their level of understanding, this audience would have been completely overwhelmed by any serious investigation, at least the ladies, while their present spouses were infinitely grateful to Rudolf Steiner for finally being able to mentally fascinate their wives with innocuous speech, bringing fulfillment to women and sparing men’s purses , Steiner was able to explain the most important issues and needs of the people as in a chat over a coffee party, so that the ladies got the impression

The personal appearance of Rudolf Steiner as an emaciated ascetic, overworked orator and tired traveler certainly did not fail to have an effect on the ladies and emphasized his appeal to take part in the great tasks of the time in all ladies’ parties and to spread his teachings.

How empty and fictitious these teachings were, is briefly demonstrated by quotations from the reviews of Rudolf Steiner’s books at Amazon. Anyone who wants to study an example of the alleged findings of the occult should read Steiner’s Akashic Chronicle (see Appendix).

Theosophy: Introduction to supernatural world knowledge and human determination

Review of “One Customer”: The book is divided into three parts. In the first part Steiner describes the three “parts” of which each human being consists: body, soul and spirit. With the body, we can act as spiritual beings in the physical world. The soul is responsible for the emotions. Without them, we would not care about the physical world. The mind is the part of us with which we can understand the processes of the physical world and evaluate them independently of our emotions. The Spirit is also the part of us who, according to Steiner’s testimony, continues to exist after our death, and after a certain period of time is reincarnated into another body. Between the three parts there are still “links”,

What Rudolf Steiner became the subject of his lectures and writings is usually three-part or four to seven-step, no matter what it is. So it was possible to talk about everything without really saying anything, and the familiar listeners and well-read followers immediately recognize the profound teachings of all the other lectures and writings and may already feel knowledgeable. In Steiner, therefore, man consists of body, soul and spirit, no matter why he separates the soul from the spirit. On other topics, we will come across self-identified designations, with which those familiar with his writings and lectures can prove their enormous knowledge advantage to every outsider. For example, the “Buddhi principle” or the “Christ principle”Mystery of Golgotha “(see Lindenberg, chapter 29).

But the same is also true of some so-called sciences at our universities, that the whole depth of their feigned insights is exhausted in their own conceptual world and meaningless divisions and demarcations.

How do you gain insights from the higher worlds?

Review of “Ondefo”: Before man enters the path of higher knowledge, he knows only the first of four levels of knowledge. It is the one which is inherent in ordinary life within the world of the senses. Even in what is initially called “science”, one has to deal only with this first level of knowledge. For this science works out only the ordinary knowledge of finer ones, makes it more disciplined. It arms the senses through instruments – microscope, telescope, etc. – to see more clearly what the unarmed senses do not see. But the level of knowledge remains the same, whether one sees normally large things with the ordinary eye, or whether one pursues very small objects and processes with the magnifying glass.

Of course, Steiner had no knowledge of higher worlds, but he did not hesitate to make long speeches and write extensively. His book then recommends readers’ training of their senses, the practice of attention, tolerance, equanimity, and so on, until the first “cognitions of the higher worlds” come to mind. We can all agree with him.

The secret science in outline

Review of “Egosum”: For the writings of Steiner … are written in a partly outdated, sometimes peculiar linguistic form in which the author endeavors to find new terms for hitherto undesignated, or much, for the hitherto only foreign terms (from the Indian, Greek, etc.) existed, and moreover to make the listener – and especially the reader – the occupation with and deepening in his writings as fruitful as possible, while the conception basically does not allow the book anywhere to start in the middle, or to read it only with a little reduced attention and concentration. For the understanding of a book the knowledge of other books is often advantageous, since not every single detail can be explained from the beginning.

The pertinent method, therefore, to invent new words and terms with which every outsider can do nothing, but the followers of the doctrine always give the feeling of infinite superiority to all critics, who may not have understood the explanations. However, the followers know how Steiner meant this and that after hearing some of the speeches and studying the scriptures, and so are already familiar with the new words and terms.

The key points of the social question in the vital necessities of the present and the future

Review of “C. Holst”: Steiner proposes to divide the social organism, as he calls it, into three spheres, the spiritual life, the state / legal life and the economic life. Although these should be independent and operate according to their own principles, they nevertheless interlock and interact. Steiner assigns an ideal of the French to each area. Revolution as a guiding principle that should be able to develop only in the respective field. Spiritual life is subject to the ideal of freedom, the political system / legal life to equality, and economic life to that of fraternity.

The women’s party already know almost every topic that it is again divided into three areas – sometimes in four or more, to which then something is assigned; mostly designations invented by Steiner, which only the loyal visitors of his lectures could know. And so it went on forever to the great enthusiasm of the searching ladies and the winking relief of their spouses from the better middle class that their women at least not psychoanalysed, buy sinfully expensive clothes and furniture or want to rebuild the house, but only inspire Rudolf Steiner and study and propagate his theories.

Kurt Tucholsky snappily described a speech by Rudolf Steiner in Paris , whose contents seem to us familiar:

The whole thing was expressly announced as an introductory lecture, so I can demand that I understand with reasonable good will at least what is being presented. It emerged, peeled out of the fumbled and misunderstood stuff, this:

Man is able to penetrate through the sharpest concentration to three levels of knowledge: the imaginary, the inspired and the intuitive. Now the ridicule of the human awkwardness of speaking clearly about these things to newcomers would be very cheap – I know how difficult it is to make a blind man realize what that means: purple. …

And the three-membered man talked and talked. And Sauerwein translated and translated. But it did not help them. This cloudy stuff is not for the raison d’etre French …

Unfortunately, Tucholsky did not explain to his readers how on earth his then famous journalist colleague Jules Sauerwein would become and remain an avowed supporter of this fabulizing quack. Above all, after he’s his works How do you get knowledge of the higher worlds? and had translated the secret science in its own hand into French and now really had to know the content of the teachings of Rudolf Steiner.

Or was there something Tucholsky had to be silent about?

The wife of Jules Sauerwein, Alice Sauerwein, founded the French national society of anthroposophists in January 1923. As in the case of the Swiss banker, the woman is a very active member of society, but one can not be fooled by the assertion that the women who were crazy had forced their husbands to abandon themselves to something like Rudolf Steiner’s mess. Using the woman socially is part of the career, and the support of Rudolf Steiner was certainly an important part of the duties of Jules Sauerwein as a famous journalist for a leading Parisian newspaper.

About the British world domination

With a few rare statements about politics, Rudolf Steiner betrays himself as one of the few contemporaries who are really well informed about the political developments. With the findings and predictions cited below, followers of occultism and esotericism may even want to make a prophet and political seer from Rudolf Steiner. His statements about Bolshevism surpass those of Louis von Mises, who had predicted the economic failure of the “communist” planned economy at a time when the general public could not even be sure that the Bolsheviks would stay in power any longer in Russia,

On January 15, 1917, Rudolf Steiner reveals to his listeners in Dornach the political plans of the British, and he even frankly explains the role of occult societies in enforcing the policies of the British Empire. Steiner also speaks of himself, since he also has seen through these things, and thus calls on his listeners to participate in this British strategy, all excerpts from Steiner GA 174 (pdf) p. 160ff:

Therefore no one should believe that British politics will ever be morally converted, and that, for special considerations, the world will refrain from its pretense of getting the world under industrial and commercial control.

Therefore, we should not be surprised that those who see through these things have established communities that are intent on doing so alone, and realize them with the means that are at the same time spiritual resources . …

In a way, one does not just want to justify world domination with what is presented as forces on the physical plane, but one wants to promote this culture with the impulses of occultism, the impulses that lie in the world of the Unknowable. So, with occult means, there is no longer any work for the salvation of common humanity, but only for the salvation of a group.

If you combine such overlooking aspects, which result from the deeper knowledge with the events of the everyday life, then you will understand some things thoroughly.

The suspicion that the lodge and circle of freemasons, occultists, mystics, fortune tellers, calendars, ghost healers, hypnotists, dream gurus, astrologers, psychoanalysts, coffee set readers and last but not least the theosophists and anthroposophists would serve the British policy was many attentive observers in Germany already come. Steiner has revealed no secret, but only confirmed to his listeners what has long been discussed in politically informed circles.

Steiner had even watched attentively how the Great War had been used not only to put the economy in all countries at the service of war, but to control it completely and get it under control:

There are still many creditable idealists – I do not even remotely say this out of any mockery, but because idealism is always commendable even where it is wrong – believing that that network of commercial-industrial measures, which is mutually exclusive of the British Empire spread over different countries, only as long as the war lasts, and that then people will again have their freedom in commercial traffic, Apart from some illusions that will be aroused by Interregnen, by what one is going to do, so that people will not immediately start to wonder, what has been started in this wartime to control commercial traffic across the world is not thought that it will disappear again with the war, but in such a way that it only starts with the war and then has its continuation.

The war is only meant to be an opportunity to put one’s nose in people’s books, but one should not believe that this insertion of noses into the books of accounts will end after the war – I mean that only symbolically for what the commercial world domination always gets more intense and intense.

Is not he really well-informed, for a spooky esoteric who otherwise fabulised Christian mysteries, the Archangel Michael, or the writings of great Indian masters? But it gets even better:

So there must be ambivalence. And the fact that this has been brought in as a big pull into the matter, that is a great, a gigantic thought of those occult brotherhoods of which I have spoken. It is a cosmopolitan thought to create the opposite of what appears to be anything but a triviality, this antagonism between the British commercial empire and what emerges from Russian with the preparation for the sixth post-Atlantean period brought about by the spiritual installations all that I have told you. – This is a great, gigantic, admirable thought of these occult brotherhoods that have been talked about.

Because, in trivial terms,It is scarcely possible to think of a more beautiful antipode for what was to be the highest flourishing of commercial and industrial thought in the West than professionalism in the future for the future Russian Slavs, who in the future is certainly less inclined than today which, precisely because of this, will be a very excellent antidote.

In addition an important supplement of Rudolf Steiner on 21 May 1921 in Stuttgart, GA 174b (pdf) , P. 359:

… We know that the social question is a world-historical impulse that must necessarily be lived out. There is none of the leaders among the Anglo-Saxon personalities who come into consideration, who did not say to themselves with an extremely cold, sober look, I would say: the social question must be lived out. – But he says to himself: She must not act out so that the Western, the Anglo-Saxon mission could suffer damage. He speaks almost literally, and these words have often been spoken: the Western world is not fit to be ruined by socialist experiments. This is what the eastern world is all about. – And he is then inspired by the intention to make this eastern, and especially the Russian world, the field of socialist experiments.

What I am about to tell you is an intuition that I was able to state – perhaps it goes back even further, I do not know for the time being – back to the 1880s. With cold eyes one knew in the Anglo-Saxon people that the social question had to live up to the idea that they did not want to ruin the Anglo-Saxonism, and that therefore Russia had to become the experimental country for socialist experiments . And in that direction, there has been a tendency in politics, with a clear tendency for this policy. … and it was hoped that the socialist experiments, in that they act as they must be, If the erroneous proletarian world is guided by Marxist or similar principles, then these socialist experiments will also be a clear lesson for the world of workers in their going out, in nothingness, in destruction will be a clear lesson it could not do that either.

So the Western world will be protected by showing what Socialism does in the East if it can spread itself as it does not want it in the Western world.

Ibid, page 361:

… England, as you have already seen, has something special in mind with Russia, the socialist experiment, and it must therefore invest all its policy that on the one hand this economic line comes about, and on the other hand Russia is so restricted and that it could just give ground to the socialist experiments.

We have it here – look again at the date – with quite amazing predictions to do. So amazing even that neither the followers, nor the opponents of anthroposophists want to draw the public’s attention to it. Because, of course, this is not with esoteric clairvoyance and theosophical magic, but only with the information available in the narrowest circles of (in this case British) intelligence and nowhere else.

Naturally, Steiner also knew what a central role Ludendorff played in the triumphal march of Bolshevism in Russia; GA 185a (pdf) , p. 212:

It is true that in our time we have experienced the grotesque composition of the monarchical principle, almost bordering on absolutism, with the Ludendorfferei – with Leninism in Russia, with Bolshevism, for Bolshevism is actually a creature of Ludendorff.

Bolshevism was produced by Ludendorff in Russia, because Ludendorff thought that he could make peace with no one else in Russia except with the Bolsheviks, so that not only that which had broken out as misfortune on the German people, in many respects from a single one In the course of two and a half years people have been effected, but also that the misfortune of Russia is in many respects connected with the grotesque errors of this individual man.

Such very accurate statements can also be found between the whole drivel of Steiner’s speeches. The inaugurated listeners did not come to his lectures for nothing, only the other listeners will have overheard these few passages and not understood them. For the general public, all the nonsense was determined by occultism and esotericism and Steiner’s interpretations of the Gospels and his interpretation of the event of Golgotha, the best camouflage imaginable.

  1. I was surprised to see an article about Blavatsky and Steiner at VT, a site I normally think of in terms of foreign policy and conspiracy. Blavatsky (1831-1891) and Steiner (1861-1925) are important figures in the evolution of Western spiritual thought, Blavatsky in particular for introducing spiritual ideas from the East to the West. This was the beginning of the New Age movement. Unlike the author, I quite like Steiner. It is difficult reading but there are genuine insights there. Reincarnation is a given. It is worth noting that Steiner believed the life of Jesus had cosmic significance. Aside from his writings on spirituality he is also known for Waldorf education and Biodynamic farming.

  2. Pooh! That was a long one. After a while it became clear that this was from an article originally written in Germany. The article’s main focus seems to be Rudolf Steiner. It is suggested that he was sympathetic to the British during WWII, and may have had some influence on the outcome (?) Rudolf Steiner was at first with the Theosophical Society, but soon created his own organisation Anthroposophie. He wanted to put more emphasis on man (anthropos) and less on god (theos). Not everybody today thinks theosophy is all nonsense, like the author of this article says. I imagine for example that believers in extraterrestrials would find Blavatsky‘s “Secret Doctrine” fascinating.
