Irony: What Goes Around Comes Around? CNN Reports from the ruins of al Assad Air Base

Where attacks that killed thousands of civilians originated though VT is extremely pleased that no Americans were killed or injured. None of those serving on this base were responsible for the failed policies or war crimes they were led to commit through lies. Time for American to grow up a bit.

The Truth? Iran destroyed al Asad Air Base, though Trump claimed it was undamaged, in response to the murder of an Iranian diplomat who arrived in Baghdad to received a note from Trump.

Al-Asad air base, Iraq (CNN) – Akeem Ferguson was in a bunker when his team received the bone-chilling radio transmission: Six Iranian ballistic missiles were headed in their direction.

The concrete slab they had taken cover under offered little protection from projectiles that US troops in Iraq were being attacked with.
“I held on to my gun and put my head down and I tried to find a happy place, so I started singing to my daughters in my head,” said the six-foot tall US Staff Sergeant. “And I just waited. I hoped that whatever happened, that it was quick.”
“I was 100% ready to die,” he added.

Sergeant Ferguson outside a US-made military bunker, similar to the one he took cover in on the night of the Iranian attacks.

Ferguson survived unscathed along with other US troops and civilian contractors on Iraq’s al-Assad base, after a barrage of Iranian ballistic missiles on the morning of January 8.
The strike was the widest scale attack on a base housing US troops in decades. Troops said the absence of casualties was nothing short of a “miracle.”
American troops stationed at the base are helping to counter ISIS and train Iraqi security forces. No Iraqi troops were hurt in the attack.
This was a housing unit for drone pilots and operators on the base. They evacuated the unit before the strike. Incidentally, the they had nicknamed the living quarters “chaos.”

… from Press TV, Tehran

Tehran: A top official from the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement says Iran’s precision missile strikes at US military bases in Iraq in retaliation for the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), shattered Washington’s invincibility myth.

“Iran, by bombing the bases, exposed the American arrogance and put an end to the US invincibility myth. It demonstrated that it stands … prepared for any confrontation. The blood of Lt. Gen. Soleimani marks the end of American presence in Iraq and the region, so the United States no longer has a future in the region,” Nabil Qaouk, the deputy head of Hezbollah’s executive council, said at a memorial ceremony held in Lebanon’s southern town of Khiam on Monday.

He further noted that the Iranian attack on Ain al-Assad air base marks the start of a response, which will not conclude until the full withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and West Asia.

On Sunday, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the Iranian missile strikes sent the message that all American targets in West Asia are within the range of Iranian missiles.

“This attack was also a message to the Zionist entity… Let stupid [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu know the wrong spot he has put his entity in,” Nasrallah said in a televised speech broadcast live from the southern Lebanese city of Baalbek as he addressed his supporters.

He added, “Look at the faces of the US leaders… Do they look like victorious faces?”

The Hezbollah chief then slammed mainstream Arab news networks for being far too pro-US over their attempts to underreport the Iranian strikes and the extent of damage caused.

The US military carried out a terrorist operation at Baghdad’s international airport last Friday, assassinating Lt. Gen. Soleimani, along with his companions, including Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s PMU.

Both commanders were admired by Muslim nations for eliminating the US-sponsored Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

The US assassination has drawn a wave of condemnation from officials and movements throughout the world, and triggered huge public protests across the region.

Early on January 8, the IRGC targeted the US-run Ain al-Assad air base in Iraq’s western province of Anbar after launching a wave of attacks to retaliate the assassination of Lt. Gen. Soleimani.

The IRGC has called for a complete withdrawal of US troops from the Arab country, asserting that it would not differentiate between the US and Israel in retaliating against the assassination of the Iranian national hero.

“We warn US allies providing bases for the [American] terrorist army… that any country serving as the origin of bellicose and aggressive attacks in any form against the Islamic Republic of Iran will be targeted,” an IRGC statement read.

The strike came as no surprise since Iran had vowed to take a “harsh revenge” in the wake of the US act of terror.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei later said Iran’s missile strike on US bases in Iraq was just “a slap.”

“The talk of revenge and such debates are a different issue. For now, a slap was delivered on their face last night,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in remarks broadcast live on the national television on January 8.

  2. Hey guys
I’ve always checked for bullshit in the news. I owe it to myself without an agenda.
As much as I enjoyed hearing the enthusiastic voice of Arwa Damon in that clip above, when I saw it first a couple days ago posted on Twitter by a
    Walid
    @walid970721
    With the subtext:
“What a great sight. The US base at Ayn Al-Asad was destroyed completely. This indicates the accuracy #Iran’s missiles. Also, the US air defense system failed to intercept any of the missiles. No wonder #Trump stood down and didn’t dare strike back as he had threatened. #Iraq”

I said to myself that there is a je ne sais quoi in that voice that is unlike the rah rah of CNN bullshit. After a quick search I found the original clip of CNN, and low and behold the CNN original has a slightly different footage and a slightly different script, which makes all the difference in the world when watching.
Someone has worked the script to make it more “appealing” to some audience.
And I think I’m the only one who has caught it.
The original clip which differs in enthusiasm is on CNN which is searched by:
“See the destruction at Iraqi air base targeted by Iran”

I personally like the Walid one better but the reporting of CNN has been tampered with. You can read it I her lips.
