Colorado: Phony Cops Enforcing ‘Stay at Home” Order

Report anyone who owns a fake police car or who you suspect owns a blue light.  Report anytime you see a suspicious traffic stop, you or others or are confronted by anyone claiming to be a police officer without a badge and business card.  Always call 9/11 and report as a potential crime.  Let them sort it out.

Fake cops are very dangerous, do not violently confront them but get their license numbers and, when you can safely, photograph their cars.  Never stop your car anywhere you feel in danger.  If stopped by a strange car, continue slowly, dial 9/11 and explain the situation and where you are (at risk of making an illegal call…).

Stay off the roads at night unless it is an emergency.  Always be legally armed.  These are very dangerous times.

Denver Patch: Persons in Colorado pretending to be police officers pulled over drivers and claimed to be enforcing the stay-at-home order, police said.

Several police departments in Colorado have issued warnings about police impersonators after drivers were pulled over by people who claimed to be enforcing the state’s stay-at-home order amid the spread of the new coronavirus, the departments said.
A woman in Aurora was pulled over around midnight Wednesday by someone driving a dark Ford Crown Victoria, equipped with red and blue emergency lights, near East 6th Avenue and Havana Street, the Aurora Police Department said. A young man went up to the woman and asked her why she was out during the stay-at-home order.
“The woman noticed his uniform did not have a patch, badge or name tag,” the police department says in a warning posted on social media. “After a brief conversation, the male told her she could leave, and she reported the incident later that day.”
