VoteVets Calls for Esper Resignation

WASHINGTON, DC — The following is the statement of Will Goodwin, Director of Government Relations for VoteVets:
“Secretary Esper must resign.  From the start of his tenure, it was clear that he was chosen to be the anti-Mattis – a person who would be a weak yes man to Donald Trump.  Today’s decision to buckle to Trump’s pressure, and reverse the decision to send troops home from Washington, DC, shows that he does not have the mettle nor the moral bearing to head the department.  But today is merely the final straw.  Time and again, Esper has shown himself all too willing to enable every worst instinct of Donald Trump.
“In a replacement, we will vigorously oppose any nominee who is just as weak, or worse, wants to encourage Donald Trump to politicize the military even more.  We will not sit idly by and watch the institution we love, and the men and women who serve in it, continue to be turned into politicized force for a wannabe tinpot dictator.”
