The Commissioner of the Middle East for the International Commission for Human Rights and the envoy of the International Council to Geneva, Ambassador Dr. Haitham Abu Said announced that the statement of US President Donald Trump regarding the intention to kill the Syrian President Dr. Bashar al-Assad falls within the framework of organized crime and persecution, which falls under the elements of crimes of the International Criminal Court, which was adopted by the Association States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court at its first session, held in New York from 3 to 10 September 2002.

Ambassador Abu Saeed added that Article 7 (1) (h): persecution that constitutes a crime against humanity. The pillars of the first paragraph (1) through the sixth (7) of them affirm the prohibition of crime and targeting a person or persons for political or other reasons, regardless of their gender.

The national, ethnic, cultural, or religious behavior, or the behavior used to carry out a widespread or systematic attack directed against a civilian population or communities, or to be part of this offensive and hostile behavior.

Ambassador Abu Saeed concluded that President Trump’s dangerous speech in content and form places the diplomatic and political work in an unprecedented context, and puts it in the category of bearing the crimes that occurred and claimed innocent victims of children, women and the elderly, and it is incumbent upon the Syrian authorities represented in this case at the Ministry of Justice to initiate a lawsuit. Includes what has been mentioned implicitly including incitement to murder, and this is contradicted by international laws and norms.

  1. However righteous it may be, USA and all their politicians were/are all immuned to prosecution as they are above the laws. USA has not even signed up to ICC nor ICHR! Thats the power of being the only super power. Nothing and no one matter more than itself!

  2. Trump, like most American Presidents before him, is a war criminal. He is responsible for the slaughter of many thousands of innocent people. He personally claimed responsibility for the murder of Qasem Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and several others. He probably won’t be brought to justice on this earth, but it still surely awaits him.
