Oh God: Trump has Secret Bank Account in China, Pays Taxes There, Not America

VT: Looks like Trump is laundering his own cash and depending less on recently convicted MEGA bag man. China is a ‘black hole’ to investigators and Americans simply don’t ever ever ever bank there.

NY Magazine: President Trump has spent months insisting Joe Biden is in hoc to China. “China is on a massive disinformation campaign because they are desperate to have Sleepy Joe Biden win the presidential race,” Trump tweeted last spring.

“Beijing Biden is so weak on China that the intelligence community recently assessed that the Chinese Communist Party favors Biden,” claimed his son, falsely, this summer. More recently, he has seized upon hacked emails purporting to show financial links between Biden and China.



But Biden does not have financial ties to China. We know this because he released his tax returns. Trump has not released his tax returns. But the New York Times has obtained at least some of them. And they found that Trump has a Chinese bank account, and suggest he has collected earnings from that country while serving as president.

The returns obtained by the Times do not show how much of that money came from China. The Trump Organization refuses to say. But the dealings it found suggest a massive conflict of interest between his foreign policy and his wallet. And while Trump postures angrily against Beijing, threatening to “make them pay” for allowing the coronavirus to infect their country and then the world, somehow, nobody believes he has any way to do this.

Daily Beast: President Trump maintains a bank account in China, even as his allies claim his Democratic opponent poses a security threat because of his son’s purported ties to China, The New York Times reports.

Citing tax records, the Times reports China is one of three foreign countries where the president has bank accounts, none of which are listed on his public financial disclosures because they are under corporate names. The other two are the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The account in China, operated by Trump International Hotels Management LLC, paid $188,561 in taxes in the country from 2013 to 2015, according to the Times. Trump Organization lawyer Alan Garten confirmed the bank account to the Times, saying it had been opened “with a Chinese bank having offices in the United States in order to pay the local taxes” as part of business projects in the country.

The company had set up an office in China at the time of the account’s opening “to explore the potential for hotel deals in Asia,” but “no deals, transactions, or other business activities ever materialized and, since 2015, the office has remained inactive.”
