Health Editor’s Note: Currently, Belgium is experiencing more than half if its ICU bed spaces filled with COVID-19 patients. Between one-fifth and one-quarter of Belgium’s medical staff is sick of quarantining with positive cases being asked to go back to work as soon as they are asymptomatic and we all know that being asymptomatic does not mean you are not spreading coronavirus. ICU beds are not evenly dispersed across the country to one can imagine the panic when someone needs to be admitted to an ICU.
Not unlike the U.S., Belgium has been facing both political and administrative crises as well as other road blocks to taking care of its load of COVID-19 patients. Belgium’s different regions, not unlike our states, have had different rules at different times so there has never been a main plan to block the spread of coronavirus….Carol
