Barr Changes DOJ Policy of Not Interfering In National Elections, Launches Election Investigations
[ Editor’s Note: AG Barr turned the Justice Department inside out with his breaking the 40 year rule of launching election investigations before the voting had concluded and a winner certified.
One might have thought he would keep a low profile, hoping to be forgotten in the post Trump era. He may have figured that if Trump was open to criminal investigations, then he would be also, so maybe better to help Trump with his “Steal”.
Was he concerned that if he did not do this as a last Hail Mary pass to flip the election to Trump, maybe he would not get the Trump pardon that I suspect he really wants to get with his last paycheck?
For Kirschner’s team effort, Trump and Barr seemed to be tied together for many of the issues prosecutors might be interested in.
The big worry now is that Biden will wilt right out of the gate on protecting the country from enduring another criminal President some day, which is highly likely, as Democrats are also fully capable of squandering their mandate by stoking fears of a socialist state.
Yes, I understand the Biden regime has a full plate, made worse with the Trump Team attempting their own version of “The Steal”.
Protecting the country from a possible new renegade president in the future is a major national security issue, but I fear a well funded campaign might be needed to pressure him into doing it. Frankly, we need all future presidential candidates to be able to pass an FBI check and release their taxes before they run.
Biden’s letting Trump walk away scot free would scar his administration for no good reason because he could appoint a special prosecutor, or even an independent commission to make the call on what charges would be warranted. Biden would then protect himself from claims of having made a political call.
If he does not do that as a minimum he will trigger an early opposition movement to his administration, a brain dead stupid thing to do, and where he would have ‘distraction’ anyway. Make the right call here Mr. President … Jim W. Dean ]

The Department of Justice was my professional home for decades. For 40 years, DOJ had a policy of not interfering in national elections by launching investigations of election results BEFORE those elections had been certified and all recounts concluded.
In the wake of Trump losing the election, Barr changed the rules, encouraging prosecutors nationwide to open investigations into any and all allegations of possible election irregularities.
Barr’s “abrogation of the 40-year policy against” DOJ interfering in elections, caused the head of DOJ’s Election Crimes Unit, Richard Pilger, a remarkably accomplished 28-year veteran of the Department of Justice, to promptly resign rather than taking part in partisan, politically-motivated, potentially corrupt investigations.
