Nursing Homes Are Experiencing Record Highs In COVID-19 Cases

Health Editor’s Note: Coronavirus cases are surging in the U.S. and also increasing in nursing homes. A very dire picture for communities which house people who are very susceptible to severe COVID-19 due to advanced age and comorbidities that advance ageing brings. Staffing shortages, which are becoming prevalent in healthcare facilities are also seen in nursing homes. The national stockpile of healthcare supplies is facing shortfalls which further jeopardizes the health of healthcare workers and their patients. A society is judged by how it takes care of its elderly, informed, and poor and the U.S. is failing miserably. Bring on the vaccines…..Carol

  1. The elderly of the US are treated like useless meat, and the help at nursing homes get minimum wage and zero recognition. Most cities or states had to create special agencies to prevent elderly abuse , which was rampant.
Just another one of those things to consider when examining our “exceptionalism”.
