Joe Biden should end the US pretence over Israel’s ‘secret’ nuclear weapons – Desmond Tutu

The cover-up has to stop – and with it, the huge sums in aid for a country with oppressive policies towards Palestinians

Every recent US administration has performed a perverse ritual as it has come into office. All have agreed to undermine US law by signing secret letters stipulating they will not acknowledge something everyone knows: that Israel has a nuclear weapons arsenal.

Part of the reason for this is to stop people focusing on Israel’s capacity to turn dozens of cities to dust. This failure to face up to the threat posed by Israel’s horrific arsenal gives its prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, a sense of power and impunity, allowing Israel to dictate terms to others.

But one other effect of the US administration’s ostrich approach is that it avoids invoking the US’s own laws, which call for an end to taxpayer largesse for nuclear weapons proliferators.

Israel in fact is a multiple nuclear weapons proliferator. There is overwhelming evidence that it offered to sell the apartheid regime in South Africa nuclear weapons in the 1970s and even conducted a joint nuclear test. The US government tried to cover up these facts. Additionally, it has never signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

Yet the US and Israeli governments pushed for the invasion of Iraq based on lies about coming mushroom clouds. As Israeli nuclear whistleblower Mordechai Vanunu said: the nuclear weapons were not in Iraq – they are in Israel.

Amendments by former Senators Stuart Symington and John Glenn to the Foreign Assistance Act ban US economic and military assistance to nuclear proliferators and countries that acquire nuclear weapons. While president, Jimmy Carter invoked such provisions against India and Pakistan.

But no president has done so with regard to Israel. Quite the contrary.  Read more…

  1. There are 2 halves to the book, and the attempt to separate them is folly in the intelligence field. It is the case of the 2 people, who act according to the same agenda, and work to the same end, in concert, but deny each other. That is absurd and childish to think this would be entertained for any length of time.

    • Lol. What’s right about the Israeli society, so that the outstanding nuclear issue would be dealt with in a straightforward manner by their people ?

I mean have they stopped killing Palestinians yet ? Have they marked their permanent borders yet? Have they revealed how many criminals and pedophiles they are harboring ? Have they stopped idolizing murderers and criminals and placing them as their leaders ? Have they stopped corrupting every US politicians of the past 50 years ? Have they ever had a UN resolution not vetoed with the exception of the one Obama did ?

It’s a criminal society. Plain and simple.

      Or I guess I don’t understand your question ..

  2. Everyone in the District of Criminals knows it’s political suicide to say anything negative about the tribe.

    • We are in an interesting period of the history of Fascington. The new administration has a few switches to turn based on their promises for resolving the current crises as in no more gray zones but just black and white, so no more Likud’s hand in them to be kept on ice as they love the status quo of the Trump administration, the switch could make history.
Take any foreign policy issue, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, there is no more “I’m a little pregnant” position to take, it’s either a yes or no. On JCPOA, there is no let’s talk some more, or let’s amend it. It’s a non issue as we say. And Likud will hate it.
Same for China’s cooperation with the US in every field. With Russia’s new START which requires China’s presence there will not be a maybe discussion with Biden, it’s a yes or no. Trump is the one who would touch everything and turn it into shit.

For these reasons and the lineup of the new administration which includes many empowered voices like Rashida Tlaib et al, Washington won’t be the status quo that Likud would love to keep.

  3. When foreign aid flows , before our own children are fed, we see corrupt transparent interference in the handling of our own money. Even more so when the recipient does not need or deserve it. Tax the churches, every penny, every property, every jot and tittle.

    • If by ‘true christianity” you mean ‘other people” who believe there was a dude , and it’s now great to display the torture on the cross and it somehow translates to ‘spreading love”, no.
Christianity is a military psyop, very old. A roman thing,… nothing to do with spirituality.
No christian ever thinks other christians are christians. Kinda tired.
Collect money ? Think a tortured dude was the great fathers kindness ? Think again. Makes no sense. No great father leaves any person man or woman in such a state to be venerated, but war mongers do all the time. Please don’t hang it on the neck of a child.

    • Because a long as it serves their purpose it’s good! Actually they did in a way speak – remember 2014 killings of Palestinians in Gaza, and how they were watching the “war theater” sitting in rows from a safe distant vantage point – and loving it!

    • Actually there is a voice of dissent in Israel from the left. But the left in Israel society is still a far right of a sane society.
And about watching the Israeli Gaza massacre of 2014, they were not Israelis, they were European zio trash “tourists” watching with music blasting in their ears. Sicker than them mfs who sent their trash to Palestine and financed their ensuing ans ongoing theft, you won’t find.
