Biden begins erasing American Trumpism internationaly in Munich

[ Editor’s Note: There were no big surprises during the virtual Munich Security Conference, but the star was certainly Joe Biden, and the meeting somewhat of a celebration that the Orange Buffoon days were over.

Trump was all about using the Presidency as a grifting exercise, lining his own and inside gang members’ pockets and careers to their fullest ability, because after all, that is what government is for, right?

I meant that only partially as a joke, as the history of American politics could be colorfully told from a purely grifterism perspective. Texas just gave us a wonderful historical example of its energy industry hardwired corruption. And Georgia is now moving to change its Constitution to derail the Fulton County DA’s investigation into Trump’s attempted election fraud there.

Biden did not say “America first is dead”. He did not want to spoil the event by giving Trump any attention. The goal now with ’45’ is to bury him using his own corruption steam shovel to do it in the courts. Biden’s “America is back” was a much better historical line.

Don’t expect to see many overseas head of state offers for Trump to come chill out a bit while he plots his comeback to make ‘America First’ again. Texas, a big supporter of Trump, just showed how the grifters there had hollowed out the energy industry to make it a Red piggybank.

From the Conference:

…”America is back, the transatlantic alliance is back, and we are not looking backward. We are looking forward together,” Biden said. He called the partnership between Europe and the United States “the cornerstone of all we hope to accomplish in the 21st century.”

…”We’re prepared to reengage in negotiations with the P5+1 on Iran’s nuclear program,” said Biden, referring to the five members of the UN Security Council and Germany, which have negotiated with Iran in the past.

…”We must also address Iran’s destabilizing activities across the Middle East, and we’re going to work in close cooperation with our European and other partners as we proceed,” he said, though he did not lay out a specific timetable for Iran talks.

The EU was putting on its own fake tale of woes with their Russian bogeyman hype where they want their cake and to eat it, too. Russia has been a solid energy supplier for decades now, and was rewarded by NATO moving east to the Russian border.

Then when Russia was forced to respond to defend against the obvious Western encirclement, that was spun as Russian aggression. I wrote a VT article years ago about how, if the US got its anti-ballistic missile system set up on the eastern Ukraine border, the US missiles would be within range to take out a Russia retaliatory strike being launched from the Urals when it was most vulnerable when ascending.

If you want to talk about aggression, the move to eliminate a first strike target’s retaliation capability would be a home run. China took a cue from that and began its moves in the South China see to defend its borders from the massive firepower of US ships sailing around in wonderful first strike positions.

From NPR: But the difference this time is how shaken allies have been by Russian interference and a move toward nationalism, said Charles Kupchan, author of Isolationism: A History of America’s Efforts to Shield Itself from the World.

“What is new here is that Americans and Europeans are still in shock about the illiberalism and the populism and the nativism that have infected political life on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Kupchan, a former Obama official who is now at the Council

From Biden we heard:

“U.S. and European companies are required to publicly disclose corporate governance structures and abide by rules to deter corruption in monopolistic practices. Chinese companies should be held to the same standard.”

…”We are in the midst of a fundamental debate about the future direction of our world. Between those who argue that — given all of the challenges we face, from the fourth industrial revolution to a global pandemic — autocracy is the best way forward and those who understand that democracy is essential to meeting those challenges,” Biden said.

“Historians will examine and write about this moment. It’s an inflection point. And I believe with every ounce of my being that democracy must prevail.”

President Biden also managed to squeeze in a call to Netanyahu to touch base there as Bibi had been strung out long enough with many more important issues to deal with than the former US furniture salesman and nuclear spy for Israel.

Bibi of course will want to wreck any real chance of the US reentering the JCPOA without any renegotiations, which if Biden tries to do that he will get nowhere with Iran.

Now the odd man out is the bad boy Saudi Prince bin Salman, seemingly way down the ‘talk to’ line, or his is too busy torturing his political opponents Jim W. Dean]
