Daily Beast: Court documents in the case of an Indiana man who went missing last week and then was found murdered reveal that he was dismembered in a storage unit. Police say that Mathew Kramer, 21, asked 55-year-old Shane Nguyen for a ride with the intention of killing him, according to TV station WANE.
He allegedly put Nguyen in a chokehold until he passed out, then slammed his head on the pavement. Authorities say Cramer and accused accomplice Jacob Carreon-Hamilton, 20, took the victim’s money and van, and went to buy tools to cut the body into pieces—which they put in garbage bags in the back of the vehicle.
When police spotted the van and tried to stop it, the suspects led officers on a high-speed chase before crashing and running.
Update: 4-27-21- According to Wane.com Nguyen’s body was dismembered. The car that sped away was a van registered to Nguyen. Police said at one point during the chase, the driver jumped from the van and the passenger moved over to the driver’s seat.
Police found Nguyen’s dismembered body in black plastic bags in the van, according to a court affidavit. Investigators also found receipts from a Goshen store for items such as a hacksaw, shovels, large knife, plastic tub, and tarps. When they went to the store, surveillance video showed three men purchasing the items and getting into Nguyen’s van.
Investigators also found a picture of Cramer on social media at a storage facility. Detectives went there and found a bloodied tarp and a knife. According to the affidavit, police believe this is where Nguyen was dismembered.
According to the affidavit, Cramer asked Shane Van Nguyen for a ride from Elkhart to Fort Wayne. He allegedly told the police that he planned to kill Nguyen before reaching Fort Wayne.
The two went to the storage unit on North Coliseum boulevard where Cramer allegedly choked out Nguyen until he was unconscious then slammed his head into the pavement.
The affidavit said Cramer then pulled Nguyen’s body into the storage unit where he “completed killing” Nguyen. He then left and drove back to Goshen to buy the items along with Carreon-Hamilton and Clements.
With Nguyen’s stolen money, Cramer told Clements and Carreon-Hamilton to purchase the items. Clements was dropped off before the other two returned to the storage unit.
Cramer is spelled two ways in the Daily Beast article. With the Cramer spelling, it can have this anagram.
