Israeli minister threatens Iran to stymie talks in Vienna to remove US sanctions

…from PressTV, Tehran

[ Editor’s Note: Although Minister Eli Cohen threatens Iran, he is also threatening Biden at the same time, in what can only be a showdown game to see what Biden’s response will be. Biden has said he wants to rejoin the JCPOA.

Any attack on Iran by Israel will be assumed in Iran to have gotten the okay from the Biden regime, and hence it must include US targets in the region for any retaliation.

Once upon a time when Israel was fighting a hard fought battle with Syria, the US intervened, sending in US pilots to man planes painted up as IDF, that helped win the air campaign, and then blacked the incident out of the history of the time for obvious reasons.

The minister may have been speaking out of turn, as his only connection he has with Defense is being on the budget committee, where typically the chairman would have made an announcement like this.

Using Cohen for this media statement might have been a tactic to intimidate Biden indirectly on the world stage that, if Israel going rogue on the US is necessary, what could Biden practically do to retaliate against Israel for torpedoing a US negotiation? Jim W. Dean ]

An Israeli minister has warned that the regime’s warplanes can reach Iran, reiterating Israel’s position that it does not consider itself bound by the diplomacy pursued through the Vienna talks to restore the Iran nuclear agreement by bringing all signatories, the US in particular, into full compliance with the deal.

“Anyone seeking short-term benefits should be mindful of the longer-term,” Reuters on Thursday quoted as saying, in a veiled reference to the Biden administration’s promise to re-enter the deal.

“Israel will not allow Iran to attain nuclear arms,” he claimed. “Iran has no immunity anywhere. Our planes can reach everywhere in the Middle East – and certainly Iran.”

Israel has already threatened to attack Iran if the United States returns to the nuclear agreement, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which former US president Donald Trump abandoned to pursue a hostile Iran policy, which was backed by the Israeli regime.

However, observers believe that most of such threats are mere bluffs and that Israel will never have the military might or courage to attack Iran without US support.

Iran has repeatedly maintained that its nuclear program is peaceful. Tehran signed the JCPOA and agreed to restrict its nuclear work so as to prove to the world that its nuclear activities do not pose any threat to other nations.

“A bad deal will send the region spiraling into war,” Cohen claimed, echoing Israel’s stance on the JCPOA.

Talks are ongoing in Vienna between Iran and the remaining parties to the JCPOA – Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany – to secure a US return to the deal followed by Iran’s return to all of its nuclear obligations under the deal.

Iran scaled down its nuclear undertakings in response to the US withdrawal, saying it will reverse its nuclear measures after the US fulfills all of its JCPOA commitments, including, first and foremost, the removal of all the sanctions it imposed in open violation of the deal.

US President Joe Biden had promised to rejoin the JCPOA during his presidential run. Since Biden’s victory against Trump, the Israeli regime has been involved in acts of sabotage and assassination in Iran.

In November, Iran’s top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated. Earlier this month, nuclear enrichment facility in Natanz was targeted in an act of sabotage. Both incidents, among many others, have been blamed on the regime in Tel Aviv.

Israel also sent a high-profile delegation to Washington this week to discuss Iran and the US return to the JCPOA with American officials, in a move compared to the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington in 2015 to put a stop to the formation of the nuclear pact.

On Thursday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met the head of Israel’s Mossad spy agency Joseph Cohen and Israeli ambassador to Washington Gilad Erdan. During the meeting, the Israeli officials expressed “deep concern” about Iran’s nuclear activities.

It came after a meeting this week between US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and his Israeli counterpart. At that meeting the Israeli delegation stressed their “freedom to operate” against Iran as they see fit, Reuters reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

  1. The problem is US has “created” a Frankenstein in ME, in order to secure its share of the oil in the world – no matter what. The wrong approaches and lack of understanding on the part of US, empowers Zionists to dare to expand their greater-Israel dreams in the region. Now Iran slowly and surely enters the scene and has to correct US errors in the region. As a result, US will eventually (sooner than West thinks) leave ME and only attempt to control ME via “diplomacy”. This will increase pressure on Israel to show itself “remaining strong”, but it will start seeing its citizens (European and US occupiers) slowly but surely returning to where they came from due to lack of security. Thus the Samson Option will be more like a Siege of Masada.

  2. Elvin Laton you suggest ” America remains a neutral observer.” you gota be joking ….Israel gets all it’s weapons from the USA & if things go wrong they have their NUKES & the SAMSON OPTION .

    • No Zigi, I was only saying that is how it could be, if the American leaders actually had, and/or used the freedom to disengage from Israel’s mischief making. Of course its obvious the U.S. government is a participant in Israel’s crimes against humanity. But not all of America’s people support the enslavement to Isrsel; not by a long shot!

  3. “Every American president since 9/11 has known that Israel nuked us that day and got away with it” It was a great anti-working American Plan that succeeded. It said the average American lost half their net worth on 911. Wages were stagnated and benefits cut, for all but the wealthiest dual-citizen American & Jewish. Wars were premediated before 911. Every red blooded American should be forced to read “A Project for a New American Century”. Written by the Bush Administration before his steal of the election from Al Gore. Left up to a Bush brother to decide in Florida. Any one could have guessed the outcome. No doubt the B-team of Jewish explosive experts with the free reign of the towers set the charges. And another Bush brother company ran security at the towers and the airports, where no planes were highjacked. Not one camera shows any of the so called hijackers on 911. Really the American people are lead like sheep thru mass lying media.

  4. Every American president since 9/11 has known that Israel nuked us that day and got away with it. Either Trump or Biden could have grown a set and spilled the beans about 9/11 releasing the secret investigation done by the DOE and Sandia National Labs that VT has written about repeatedly.

That this has not happened will be the scandal of the century that future historians will marvel about, if indeed there is a future after Israel eventually avails itself of the Sampson Option. Zionism is a death cult that is bent on taking the rest of humanity with it when it is finally buried in the sands of time.

    • This would be so easy to handle, assuming America actually has control of “it’s own” foreign policy.
Just make a formal announcement that whatever Israel and Iran do amongst themselves is strictly between them, and America remains a neutral observer.

    • Tommy I’m sure somewhere somehow Trump profited from the attack on 9/11. He’s so deeply embedded in the NY mafia that it’s a no brainer.
So to expect him to grow a pair on this issue would be wishful thinking.

Elvin I’m sure you know the story of “A son asks a father what the difference between “in theory” and “in practice” was. His father replies “go ask your older sister, mother and grandmother whether they would ….”

If you don’t know the story read it and it will put your post in perspective. Or the short answer is “as if.”

    • Yes NewtRallyt, probably when it comes to governments and foreign relations, theory and practice are distant relatives.
