Daily Beast: A anesthesiologist at UCLA who refused to get vaccinated filmed himself being kicked off the premises on Monday for trying to enter while unvaccinated, the Los Angeles Times reports. Dr. Christopher B. Rake, an outspoken opponent of the vaccine and founder of the contrarian group Citizens United for Freedom, painted himself out to be a martyr as he was escorted out by three people.

“This is what happens when you stand up for freedom and when you show up to work, willing to work, despite being unvaccinated, and this is the price you have to pay sometimes,” he said. UCLA Health said in August they would require all employees to be vaccinated by Sept. 30 and those who weren’t facing “progressive discipline, including restricting access to worksites and being placed on leave.”

Rake claimed he is willing to lose “everything—job, paycheck, freedom, even my life” just to rail against a safe and free vaccine that would protect the lives of the vulnerable patients he encounters every day.

  1. Of all the requirements and restrictions on various employees , I just don’t see a case for “freedom” on a vaccine requirement for people working in large public schools, during a pandemic. It is an employers prerogative. Just like drug testing, uniforms, hours and restrictions on what one may say publicly. Imagine if pilots were so flippant regarding passenger safety. “Don’t worry about the missing rudder folks, I’ve always told those morons down in maintenance we didn’t really need that part anyway”

    • I knew once a guy that he was pilot on comercial airline when he entered into cockpit many times he found empty the fire extinguisher, something must be verified according the flight book rules, when he going to complain with company they was saying him forget about extinguisher and going plane take off. Also many times planes take off with alarms beeping anyway. So David, don’t worry about the missing rudder probably the plane can fly wothout that part anyway… 🙂

  2. You know, depending on one’s own personal feelings about all the different ramifications of the virus and the disease, and the vaccines and the outcomes allegedly associated with taking them; one could view this anesthesiologist’s actions as a stand for individual freedom of choice, or a selfish exclusion from “group” cohesion and safety; or bias-confirmation propaganda promoting anti-vaccination beliefs, OR bias-confermation propaganda promoting anti-vaxxer outcast theory.

    • At any rate, we know it’s serving “the-powers-that-be”‘s interest’s or it wouldn’t be allowed a platform on Twitter.

    • Elvin, I’m currently at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix getting proton radiation therapy for a perineural cancer behind what used to be my left eye. These professionals wouldn’t let a doctor like this dude in the door in the first place, let alone employ him to work on me. If you work at the Mayo Clinic, you are fully vaccinated and wear a mask at all times. No exceptions!
