Raw Story: According to a report from the Washington Post, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg caved to the government of Vietnam and allowed the censoring of critics of the country’s leaders and policies.
Zuckerberg is currently under fire after a whistleblower provided evidence and testimony before Congress that showed the company put profits before the public’s safety which now has the company scrambling to limit the public fallout.
According to the report, Zuckerberg was made aware of complaints from the Vietnam government and agreed with them out of fear of seeing Facebook banned in a profitable market.
The report states, “In America, the tech CEO is a champion of free speech, reluctant to remove even malicious and misleading content from the platform. But in Vietnam, upholding the free speech rights of people who question government leaders could have come with a significant cost in a country where the social network earns more than $1 billion in annual revenue, according to a 2018 estimate by Amnesty International.
The Post is reporting that three insiders have come forward, after being promised anonymity, and claimed the tech mogul came down on the side of the government.
“So Zuckerberg personally decided that Facebook would comply with Hanoi’s demands,” the Post is reporting, adding, “Ahead of Vietnam’s party congress in January, Facebook significantly increased censorship of “anti-state” posts, giving the government near-total control over the platform, according to local activists and free speech advocates.”

Obviously Facebook mines your posts, especially private groups, for targets. Men get ads with scantly clad girls soliciting them, that have hundreds of posts, (all following their peter) and…..well….it all looked rather fake so I broke my basic rule and commented. I asked how many really believe this person is genuine and not just “sexual baiting on Facebook”.
How fast do you think my comment was banned and the sex baiting continued…..minutes.
The ads are to users, like the alphabet to a second grader. Your most vulnerable time to be seduced or ‘grabbed” and with what bait, is predictable within 5 minutes.
They didn’t need it for the masses, it is only necessary for mopping up around the edges.
If a poll shows 100 short, then it could be deployed and viola.
It’s not censorship, it is censorship by proxy.
The government wants it’s cake and eat it too. By “controlling” speech of a publisher through legislation, it is censorship. The correct way to do it, is break up the company. Percentage of market share is what must be managed. This means Google, Facebook, and Amazon all have to sell their portions that exceed the limits for monopoly. Wal mart also. That is where I would start. Remove the ability for walmart to sell groceries. It is an outlet for garbage and it kills small and medium business, and forced everyone into a singular enclosed space during a pandemic.

The barely-concealed corporatism of the ruling elites is breaking down, David. Imagine what can be done, with a database sorted by DOB, and using the conglomerate of archetypal renderings that is now tripled or quadrupled by real time data analysis. Poor people use astrology, power uses calendrics. The images are all that is needed. The rest is frosting.
The concept of market share is not politically attractive nor is it understood by most people.
