Biden has found his bone to pick with the GOP: Voting Rights

…from Politico

[ Editor’s Note: The Biden team is executing its second of a one-two punch to break the stagnation on getting the Voting Rights Bill through, a double header challenge with both the Republicans and his two tormentor Senate Democrats In Name Only who have exploited the situation for huge media coverage.

This silly excuse of wanting to preserve Senate rules traditions for the future when we have our entire democracy on the line, …well… in the South we had a term for that kind of thinking, “That dog won’t hunt”.

Biden is going to Georgia, as that was one of Trump’s most blatant and recorded attempts to steal the election with his request to Raffensperger to ‘find 11,701 votes’. For a renegade president to state such a thing in front of an office of witnesses on his end, and what he should have expected to be a recording on the other, is a signature example of how Trump had gone off the rails.

He of course is mortally wounded, a dead man walking politically, but the Republican party, after denouncing his January 6th Insurrection attempt as an outrage, did not take long to recalculate life without the Trump mob behind them.

They compromised the entire democratic foundation of the country, solely for what they percieved was their own political benefit. As for their oath of office, that has been reduced to a bunch of silly words that have to be repeated on the road for personal political power.

The saddest part is that despite the good fortune in having survived Trumpism up to this point, we may have two Democratic senators slitting America’s throat at the Senate altar because it makes them the center of attention.

For them to actually help the Trumper Republicans be able to rig future elections in the future is a black deed beyond description. Thus ends my cheery missive for today… Jim W. Dean ]

Days after going after Donald Trump for threatening America’s democracy, President Joe Biden will turn his sights on Republicans for pushing laws based on the former president’s lies of election fraud.

The president will take aim at GOP lawmakers in state houses and on Capitol Hill in his speech in Atlanta on Tuesday, calling on them to join Democrats in support of voting and elections reform bills. He will declare the current moment a “turning point” for the country.

“The next few days, when these bills come to a vote, will mark a turning point in this nation,” Biden will say, according to an excerpt of his prepared remarks provided by the White House. “Will we choose democracy over autocracy, light over shadow, justice over injustice?

I know where I stand. I will not yield. I will not flinch. I will defend your right to vote and our democracy against all enemies foreign and domestic. And so the question is where will the institution of [the] United States Senate stand?”

…Biden’s audience on Tuesday will be both the base voters and activists on the ground in Georgia as well as Democratic lawmakers in the Senate. The president is attempting to sway moderates in his party who are reluctant to change Senate rules.

Lindsey Graham let the cat out of the bag shortly after the 2020 election, “We have to do something about mail-in voting or Republicans will never win another national election in the USA.” Changing demographics will doom the Republican Party and the only way they will win elections is by suppressing the vote in the major cities by providing pitifully few poling stations and by limiting mail-in voting.
