One of the joys of my lifestyle is easy access to the joys of Nature, especially being able to glimpse the wonders of a dark sky.

That includes the type of display afforded to all this morning who were awake to see Venus racing to catch the Crescent Moon at dusk, low on the southeast horizon here in Tuscon, AZ.

This mid-winter blessing was the latest soul-enhancing anointment available to those who take the time to distance themselves from the angst of society to allow the physical beauty of Earth and Sky to heal the everyday wounds of modernity and empower them to new heights of inspiration and creativity.

As I travel around this once great nation of ours, I am reminded of how lucky the pioneers who settled America in the 18th and 19th centuries were because they could avail themselves of these wonders in a very direct way as they labored slowly across the vast terrain of a largely empty continent.

They were able to experience directly in a grass roots manner what today most of us miss in the hurry and rush of modernity as we speed along the interstate on the way to our daily routine with little awareness of what we are missing.

I invite everyone to take advantage of this free option to receive what is available to all and to get closer to whatever version of God and Creation you allow to seep into your Soul.
