Press TV: US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has announced a decision to dispatch a guided missile destroyer and 5th generation fighter jets to the region amid increasing retaliatory air raids by Yemeni Armed Forces on vital facilities in the United Arab Emirates.

Austin made the pledge during a telephone conversation with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the two sides discussed the recent Yemeni attacks against the UAE that threatened US and Emirati forces stationed at al-Dhafra Air Base near Abu Dhabi.

Austin, he added, reiterated his strong condemnation of the strikes, and his commitment to US-UAE strategic partnership.

The US defense secretary further “reviewed a range of actions the Department of Defense is taking to support the UAE.  These include continuing to provide early warning intelligence, collaborating on air defense, and sending the US Navy guided missile destroyer USS Cole to partner with the UAE Navy before making a port call in Abu Dhabi,” Kirby said.

Austin also informed bin Zayed “of his decision to deploy 5th Generation Fighter aircraft to assist the UAE against the current threat and as a clear signal that the United States stands with the UAE as a long-standing strategic partner.”

The Emirates is Saudi Arabia’s main ally in a 2015-present bloody war and simultaneous siege that the kingdom has been leading against Yemen, seeking, in vain, to change the country’s ruling structure in favor of its former Riyadh-friendly officials.

The Yemeni forces that feature the country’s army and its allied fighters from the Popular Committees have, however, vowed not to lay down their arms until the country’s complete liberation from the scourge of the Saudi invasion.

Most recently, the joint forces carried out three operations, which saw them strike targets deep inside Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The first operation took place on January 17 with five ballistic missiles and a large number of drones, according to Spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree.

It targeted the Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports, the Musaffah oil refinery in Abu Dhabi, and a number of important and sensitive Emirati sites and facilities.

One week later, Yemeni forces pounded al-Dhafra Air Base along with important targets in Dubai. They also hit a number of military camps in Sharurah town of Saudi Arabia’s Najran and strategic sites in the kingdom’s Jizan and Asir regions.

In the third operation on January 31, Yemen’s Zulfiqar ballistic missiles and Sammad-3 (Invincible-3) drones struck targets in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

During the second and third Yemeni attacks, American troops fired “Patriot interceptors” in support of the UAE.

The United States has been lending all-out arms, logistical, and political support to the Saudi-led invasion since its onset.

The arms support has included provision of surgical weapons for the invading coalition that the aggressors have been using amply against Yemeni civilians.

  1. It’s amazing to me since the slaughter of the Yemeni people began by the Saudi Arabia and UAE the US have been supplying weapons and logistics and making sure those planes are able to fly. All the innocent people including children that have been killed, I have yet to hear the US regime lament and condemn the slaughter.
As soon as the Houthis fight back the US regime is quick to condemn them. Where was Lloyd Austin and John Kirby with their outrage? I would urge Lloyd Austin to take a good long look in the mirror and try to recall what happened to Colin Powel after he went along with his government lies to get us into Iraq. This is the excuse that the Biden regime was waiting for to openly start dropping bombs on the Yemeni people.

  2. Thank You zman for exposing this sad continuation of U.S. aid and comfort to the human catastrophe of the war on the. People of Yemen. It also exposes Biden’s duplicity and lack of sympathy for those innocent YemenI victims of the people who flew the planes into the New York towers and their corrupt GCC allies.

  3. OK, I know I’m just imaging things…I have to be. Perusing all the news sites that I have bookmarked (and that’s a lot of them) I find it rather strange that the Yemeni strikes on UAE are mostly ignored or downplayed. Not just by the MSM, but almost all alt news as well. This article is from presstv, I read it there first. It is nearly the only place where you can read what is happening there. While everyone is focused on Ukraine and all the babble about Russia, Russia, Russia, the events around Yemen present a far more important set of problems for the cabal. This article seems to say that the UAE has decided to stay the course, although it does not say that explicitly. Is it not true that if Yemen should deliver the Yemen Flood attack that would be the end of the UAE…economically, militarily and politically (in view of the majority ethnicity)? Our base there is the hub of operations for our terrorism, the UAE represents the so-called Arab unity in the Abraham Accords and the loss of military prestige in failing to protect…not to mention the abject failure of the KSA/UAE war on Yemen. The cabal simply cannot allow the UAE to leave the fold, witness the Zionist visit recently, likely an arm twisting visit.

    • Biden reaffirms our support, early warning (useless so far), air defense (ditto useless) F35s (already there) and something else, the Cole. Now search Cole and Yemen and it seems a coincidence too far. I don’t believe they will allow the UAE to exit, which means they are up for another attack, this one to be far more severe that the others. Is US policy going to change to active participation? How will they stop it? Do they want to stop it? Are we being primed for another FF while everyone is looking at Ukraine? There have been reports that Israeli planes have been seen at Al Dhafra. Yemen says if they receive proof Israel is actively involved, they will hit them too. This has to be prevented at all costs…unless, again, this is the way they will instigate the regional war they have been after. This situation is far more deadly than Ukraine(it’s already ‘hot’), it will impact world economics far more(they are a financial hub) and will make or break the Abraham Accords(necessary for ‘Greater Israel’). We did not build bases in UAE and Israel for no reason, they can be used as tripwires…in fact the base in Israel was built precisely as that, a tripwire, as stated when it was proposed. All this, yet does no one realize the true depth of ramifications? Going by all the press this is receiving, no. It does not make sense…unless it is by design. This is as worrying as the war itself.
