Europe will specifically allow Ukraine to join the union to show that it supports it. This was stated by the head of the Center for Post-Soviet Studies at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences Leonid Vardomsky in an interview with the Telegram channel Radiotochka NSN .

Earlier, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg spoke out against accepting Ukraine into the European Union, Heute reports. Schallenberg believes that there are other opportunities for partnership between Kyiv and the EU. We are talking about joining the Single Economic Zone or maintaining the current level of the Association Agreement, Gazeta.ru reports .

“If Ukraine joins the EU, the European countries will take on a rather heavy burden.  But apparently now it doesn’t scare them anymore, although it used to scare them.  The only question is in what territorial composition Ukraine will join the EU… It is rather an act for political support and a legal basis for economic support, because a lot of money will have to be invested in Ukraine. But apparently, the EU is ready for this, at least in words. But, probably, the population of Europe will accept this step as an element of moral, psychological, political and economic support,” concluded  Vardomsky.

Zelensky handed over the completed application form for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

In Ukraine, they believe that accession to the European Union will take place as early as 2024. This was stated by the country’s Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko in her column for Ukrayinska Pravda.

“We expect to get the status of a candidate for EU accession this summer. The first part of our application has already been submitted,” the minister said , adding that Kiev “at the same rapid pace” will fulfill all the requirements as a future EU member.

There are at least two countries in Europe that will do everything to prevent Ukraine from joining the EU – France and Germany. This is reported by News.ru with reference to a member of the Federation Council of Russia, Sergei Tsekov.

According to him, Paris and Berlin do not need “new freeloaders and security problems.”  The senator stressed that Kiev “will sit on the budget of Germany and France.

One of the leaders of the Ukrainian opposition, Yuriy Boyko , through the Telegram channel Radiotochka NSN, agreed with the ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych that the main mistake of Ukraine in 30 years is the loss of friendship with Russia.

“Because of this, we have lost a lot economically, jobs, exports. Having lost Russia, we didn’t gain much in the European Union. We have been living without the International Monetary Fund for a long time. They do not give money, they are afraid that they will steal it here. It is necessary to build industry, and not run for loans, restore relations with Russia, with neighbors in the CIS – these are our traditional markets , ”he said.

Retired Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vasily Korchmar , in a conversation with the Telegram channel Radiotochka NSN, said that Ukraine, in negotiations with the Russian side, put forward a demand for non-intervention of the country’s entry into the EU, because after joining the European Union, most countries were admitted to NATO.

“When Moldova was preparing to join the European Union, I read the text of the agreement – it says at the end that the country that joins the EU will participate in all military, economic and other actions of the European Union. This is actually preparing the country for joining NATO. Let’s take the Baltic countries that joined the EU – all were later admitted to NATO. After all, the clause that Ukraine will not enter into military alliances would cross out the statements of the Kiev authorities about their desire to join NATO , ” said Korchmar.

Ukraine applied for EU membership on March 1, Kiev’s appeal was registered and the consideration procedure began, recalls Free Press .
