The Russian president made the announcement in the course of a major annual address to lawmakers on Tuesday focused on the security crisis in Ukraine and the broader global tensions between the West and Russia.
Russia will be suspending its participation in the New Strategic Arms Reduction (New START) Treaty, President Vladimir Putin has announced.
Explaining the decision, Putin noted that the agreement was initially drawn up under completely different circumstances, when Russia and the US did not perceive each other as adversaries. Now, however, according to the president, not only is the US issuing ultimatums to Russia, but NATO itself has essentially made an application to become part of the treaty as well.
This was forecast only two day ago, during the March against War Machine, by Tulsi Gabbard, former US presidential candidate.
“Two short years later what I warned about then is now a reality. This proxy that we are fighting against Russia right now could turn at any moment into a direct conflict between the United States/NATO and Russia,” she said, warning that “anyone with a little bit of common sense” knows that “ a Cold War can at any moment turn into a hot war against a nuclear-armed country.”
The head of state gave the disturbing announce during the speech to Russian parliamentarians and high-ranking officials, outlining the situation in the country and explaining the principal trends of Russian foreign and domestic policy that is to shape the nation’s future.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is delivering his annual address to the Federal Assembly in Moscow. The event takes place in the historic Gostiny Dvor venue, with a panoply of attendants, including legislators from the Russian State Duma and the Federal Council, members of the cabinet, top officials and religious leaders.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has already noted that the special military operation in Ukraine will be the main topic on the agenda, as well as an assessment of international relations.

The real problem of this conflict comes from the fact that the NATO countries, with the USA led by Joseph Biden, the EU by Ursula von Der Leyen. Italy under Giorgia Meloni and Germany are continuing to raise the level of the military confrontation by supplying more armaments to Ukraine while Russia has carefully dosed its war potential since the first days of the attacks.
For months, Moscow’s army has in fact only hit military bases, starting to attack energy infrastructures only after the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in Norway and the Kerch Bridge in Crimea.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, for his part, has rejected any proposal for peace in every way, even the truce for the Orthodox Christmas during which he instead persecuted the Russian Orthodox Church.
Biden, Von Der Leyen and Meloni are united by a single goal: to put Putin’s patience to the test in order to endlessly continue a war that sees them entangled in an intrigue of shady conflicts of interest with the Weapons Lobby and the New World order led by the Rockefellers, George Soros (funder of the coup in Ukraine) and Bill Gates, who favored the appointment of Jens Stoltenberg as NATO secretary general to carry on Microsoft’s military Artificial Intelligence business.
For a dirty question of money and geopolitical power, the rulers of the West, with important exceptions such as those of Croatia and Hungary, are putting the fate of Europe at risk.
The Russian president’s decision to suspend the nuclear deal with the US comes after American President Biden and Italian Prime Minister Meloni flocked to Kiev on the occasion of the approaching anniversary of the start of the Russian special military operation to express solidarity with Zelensky and also evaluate sending F-16 or similar fighter-bombers.

Ukraine was ready to launch a large-scale attack on Donbass by February 2022 and had the West’s blessing to do so, Putin said during the speech. He stated that Russia’s military operation in Ukraine was launched as a pre-emptive measure.

“The threat was growing day by day. The information we were receiving left no doubt that by February 2022, everything was ready for another bloody punitive action in Donbass,” Putin said.
“I want to repeat: they started the war. And we have used and are using force to end it.”
The Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics broke away from Ukraine shortly after the 2014 coup in Kiev. The Ukrainian authorities first unsuccessfully tried to subdue the rebellions by force, and later instituted an economic blockade.
Russia sent troops into the neighboring state nearly a year ago, citing the need to protect the people of Donbass and Kiev’s failure to implement the 2014-2015 Minsk peace accords.
Former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko acknowledged last year that Kiev had used the Minsk agreements to buy time and beef up its military and economy. Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former French President Francois Hollande, who brokered the deal, corroborated Poroshenko’s account.

The US has in effect suspended every treaty with Russia either by unilateral dictat declaring them done or by stonewalling any cooperation or implementation of the treaties. About this treaty; Washington has not allowed any Russian inspection of facilities and preparations but now presses for open access to Russian facilities in the middle of war and in preparation for a wider war. The intentions of Washington are transparent.

The treaty is bilateral, the NATO bloc includes other countries with nuclear weapons, to which this treaty does not apply. For example, China intends to increase the number of warheads. And they didn’t give a damn about the agreements.
