The Russian military attacked Kharkiv’s defense headquarters on March 31, killing more than 100 nationalists and Western mercenaries, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov announced on April 2.
The Russian MoD said a pinpoint strike by a P-800 Oniks supersonic cruise missile targeted 40 Ukrainian fighters, and five armored vehicles and military equipment were destroyed.
This is a huge display of Russian vulnerability albeit not quite like having Israel pump a cruise missile into the Pentagon and blow up half of New York.
“Ukrainian negotiators have essentially agreed to Russia’s principal security demands of rejecting NATO membership and regarding the presence of foreign military bases on its territory,” the Kremlin’s chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky told Sputnik News.
Konashenkov noted that among the targets hit were 8 strongholds and areas of concentration of military equipment, two warehouses with fuel and lubricants, a warehouse with ammunition and rocket and artillery weapons, two MLRS, and one Buk-M1 and one S-300.
Washington initially denied the Russian MoD’s reporting as “Russian disinformation”, but officials and media have since corroborated many of its assertions about the Pentagon's research into deadly pathogens conducted in Ukrainian laboratories.
Shoigu: “In general, the main objectives of the first phase of the operation have been achieved. The combat capabilities of the VSU have been significantly reduced, which allows us to focus our main attention and main efforts on achieving the main goal – the liberation of Donbass.”
Russian air defences have shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter as it was flying over the Sea of Azov, five kilometres from shore to pick up leaders of the Azov nationalist battalion from Mariupol, the Russian Defence Ministry has stated.
The Russian Ministry of Defence on 24 March presented new evidence that Ukraine was involved in bioweapons research, revealing that President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, funded the Pentagon’s military biological programme in Ukraine via the investment fund Rosemont Seneca.
“The combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been considerably reduced, which … makes it possible to focus our core efforts on achieving the main goal, the liberation of Donbass,” Rudskoi added.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Gen. Mark A. Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have tried to set up phone calls with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Gen. Valery Gerasimov but the Russians “have so far declined to engage,” say a Pentagon spokesman.
"Since February 2022, Ukrainian troops have multiplied artillery attacks on Donbass with prohibited large-caliber artillery weapons. And, against the background of false statements about the desire for peace, Kiev had begun large-scale artillery preparations for the offensive of a shock group of troops drawn to the east of Ukraine with the support of aviation and missile systems."
During a special military operation in Ukraine, 1,351 Russian servicemen were killed and 3,825 wounded. This was stated at a briefing by the First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, Colonel-General Sergei Rudskoy.
On March 25, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that in the evening of March 24, Kalibr cruise missiles struck a fuel depot in Kalinovka near Kiev. This was the largest remaining fuel base of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the East of Ukraine, the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine, where the self-proclaimed republics of the DPR and the LPR had been previously created, are now almost under the control of the divisions of the Russian Federation, the DPR and the LPR.
️Ukraine spent several years preparing a 300,000 army to take Donbass in a 1-2 day blitz, and Ukrainian army groups were deployed across Kharkiv and Kyiv areas.
Currently, Russian and DPR forces are working to eliminate the remnants of nationalist formations and the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the settlements of Sladkoe, Novoukrainka and Shahterskoe.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that there are now 100,000 US troops in Europe as NATO ramps up its presence on the bloc’s eastern flank amid Russia’s ongoing special military operation in Ukraine.
